Lieutenant General Vineet Sharma, Director General Dental Services (DGDS) and Colonel Commandant of the Army Dental Corps, will superannuate on May 31, 2026, bringing to a close an illustrious military career spanning 38 years.
The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) paid tribute to the senior officer’s outstanding contributions, describing his tenure as one marked by unwavering commitment, professional excellence, and selfless service to the nation.
During his distinguished career, Lt Gen Sharma played a pivotal role in advancing military dentistry across the Armed Forces. He championed modernization initiatives, academic excellence, clinical innovation, and patient-centric healthcare practices, significantly strengthening the capabilities and standards of the Army Dental Corps.
Officials noted that his visionary leadership helped transform the approach to military dental care while inspiring generations of dental professionals to pursue excellence with compassion, integrity, and dedication.
On behalf of the AFMS fraternity, Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, conveyed her warm wishes to Lt Gen Sharma on his retirement and acknowledged his immense contributions to military healthcare.
She expressed confidence that his wisdom, experience, and commitment to service would continue to inspire future generations even beyond his years in uniform.
The Armed Forces Medical Services also recognised Lt Gen Sharma’s lasting legacy in strengthening the Army Dental Corps and enhancing the quality of dental healthcare available to Armed Forces personnel and their families across the country.
