During the meeting, Vice Admiral McCarty briefed the CDS on the operational readiness of the Command, ongoing joint operational initiatives and efforts being undertaken to enhance capabilities across the strategically important theatre.

A key area of deliberation was the enhancement of maritime domain awareness, which remains critical to monitoring activities across the Indian Ocean Region and safeguarding India’s maritime interests. The leaders also discussed initiatives to improve surveillance, interoperability and information-sharing capabilities.

The meeting further reviewed operational preparedness and capability development efforts designed to enhance the Command’s ability to respond effectively to emerging security challenges in the maritime domain.

The Andaman and Nicobar Command occupies a strategically significant position overlooking key sea lanes of communication and plays a vital role in India’s maritime security architecture. As the country’s only integrated Tri-Service Command, it serves as a model for jointness and theatre-level operational coordination.

The interaction reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to strengthening integration, enhancing combat readiness and building a future-ready joint force capable of addressing evolving regional and global security challenges.

The visit marked an important step in advancing the Command’s operational objectives while reinforcing the broader vision of jointness and integrated military operations under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff.
