Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Headquarters of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) to review the operational preparedness, combat readiness and overall effectiveness of forces deployed in the North-East region.
During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed on the operational capabilities of Assam Rifles formations, ongoing technology infusion initiatives, coordination with other security agencies and various nation-building programmes being undertaken jointly by Spear Corps and IGAR (East).
The briefing highlighted efforts aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, enhancing surveillance and leveraging modern technologies to address evolving security challenges in the region. Discussions also focused on inter-agency cooperation and initiatives contributing to stability, development and community engagement across the North-East.

General Dwivedi reviewed the preparedness of troops operating in demanding and complex terrain and assessed measures undertaken to maintain a high state of readiness. He appreciated the professionalism, operational excellence and combat preparedness displayed by personnel of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles.
Interacting with officers and troops, the COAS commended their unwavering dedication, commitment to duty and exemplary service under challenging operational conditions. He lauded their contribution towards maintaining peace, security and stability in the region while safeguarding national interests.
Recognising exceptional performance and distinguished service, General Dwivedi also presented COAS Commendation Cards to selected personnel. The awards were conferred in acknowledgement of their professionalism, devotion to duty and significant contributions to operational effectiveness.
The Army Chief emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards of operational readiness, technological adaptation and seamless coordination among security agencies to effectively address emerging threats and challenges.

Officials noted that the visit reaffirmed the Indian Army’s continued focus on operational preparedness, force modernisation and strengthening joint efforts with Assam Rifles and other security organisations in the strategically important North-East region.
The interaction served as a morale booster for troops deployed in forward and challenging areas, reinforcing the Army leadership’s commitment to recognising excellence, encouraging innovation and ensuring mission readiness at all levels.
