Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Gajraj Corps to review the operational preparedness and combat readiness of the strategically important formation responsible for safeguarding India’s eastern frontiers.
During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed on the prevailing security situation, operational deployments, surveillance architecture, inter-agency coordination mechanisms and the various nation-building initiatives being undertaken by the formation. The briefing highlighted the Corps’ efforts to maintain a high state of readiness while effectively addressing emerging security challenges in its area of responsibility.

General Dwivedi reviewed the operational capabilities of the formation and assessed measures aimed at enhancing surveillance, strengthening force readiness and improving coordination with other security agencies. He also examined initiatives focused on leveraging technology and innovation to improve operational effectiveness.
Addressing officers of the Eastern Command, the COAS appreciated their contributions towards the ongoing transformation and modernisation of the Indian Army. He commended their professionalism, dedication and commitment to maintaining operational excellence under challenging conditions.
The Army Chief urged all ranks to continue striving for excellence in support of the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasising that the Armed Forces play a vital role in ensuring national security and contributing to the country’s long-term development goals. He encouraged personnel to remain guided by the ethos of “Nation First” while carrying out their responsibilities.

Recognising exceptional service and professional excellence, General Dwivedi also presented COAS Commendation Cards to selected personnel. The awards were conferred in acknowledgement of their exemplary service, devotion to duty and significant contributions towards enhancing operational effectiveness.
The visit underscored the Indian Army’s continued focus on maintaining combat readiness, strengthening inter-agency cooperation and fostering innovation to meet evolving security requirements.

Officials noted that the interaction served as a morale booster for troops and reaffirmed the Army leadership’s commitment to recognising excellence, encouraging professional growth and ensuring that formations remain prepared to respond effectively to any operational contingency.
