In a proud achievement for the Indian Army and the nation, Subedar Dhiraj Bommadevara of the 116 Engineer Regiment delivered an outstanding performance at the 5th CISM World Military Archery Championship 2026, held in Warendorf, Germany, from 17 to 24 June 2026.
Competing against some of the finest military archers from 19 nations, the accomplished archer showcased exceptional skill, consistency and composure to secure multiple podium finishes on the international stage.
Subedar Dhiraj won the Gold Medal in the Mixed Team Event, helping India emerge victorious against strong international competition. He further added to the country’s medal tally by securing the Bronze Medal in the Team Event, underlining the strength of the Indian contingent at the championship.
In the highly competitive Individual Recurve Event, he finished in an impressive fifth position, narrowly missing out on another medal while demonstrating remarkable precision and technical excellence.

His achievements have brought significant recognition to the Bombay Sappers and the Corps of Engineers, reflecting the high standards of professionalism, discipline and sporting excellence that characterise the Indian Army.
