Officer Cadets from the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, visited the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS) on 24 June 2026 as part of their professional military orientation programme.
The visit was organised to provide the future officers of the Indian Army with firsthand exposure to the professionalism, operational capabilities and evolving role of Army Aviation in contemporary military operations.

During the visit, the cadets were briefed on the organisation, operational responsibilities and employment of Army Aviation assets across a wide spectrum of missions. Instructors highlighted the critical role played by aviation units in enhancing battlefield mobility, surveillance, reconnaissance, logistics support and combat operations.
The cadets also gained valuable insights into the advanced training methodologies followed at the Combat Army Aviation Training School for preparing Army aviators to operate effectively in diverse operational environments. The sessions covered various aspects of flight training, mission planning, aviation safety and the integration of rotary-wing platforms into modern military operations.

Officials explained how Army Aviation has become an indispensable force multiplier, enabling rapid troop deployment, casualty evacuation, disaster relief, reconnaissance and precision operational support across challenging terrains.
The interaction provided the cadets with a deeper understanding of the technological advancements and operational doctrines shaping the future of Army Aviation and its growing importance in network-centric warfare.
The visit formed part of the Indian Army’s efforts to bridge classroom learning with operational realities by exposing cadets to different arms and services, helping them develop a comprehensive understanding of joint battlefield operations.

Officials noted that such professional visits play a crucial role in preparing future military leaders by familiarising them with the capabilities, training standards and operational ethos of specialised formations.
The programme concluded with the cadets expressing appreciation for the opportunity to witness the functioning of one of the Indian Army’s premier aviation training institutions, further strengthening their understanding of the pivotal role of Army Aviation in enhancing operational effectiveness and mission success.
