The Eastern Command of the Indian Army congratulated Major General Debashish Mukherjee on assuming the appointment of Commandant, Command Hospital (Eastern Command), Kolkata, on 8 July 2026.
An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Major General Mukherjee is a distinguished Surgical Oncologist with an illustrious career in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). Over more than three decades of service, he has held several important clinical, academic and leadership appointments.
As the new Commandant, Maj Gen Mukherjee will lead one of the Indian Armed Forces’ premier tertiary care hospitals, overseeing specialised healthcare services for serving personnel, veterans and their families while further strengthening the hospital’s clinical excellence and operational medical capabilities.
Eastern Command extended its best wishes to the General Officer, expressing confidence that his extensive experience and professional expertise would contribute significantly to advancing healthcare standards and medical support within the Command.
