Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth is on a visit to the Eastern Command to review the prevailing security situation and assess the operational preparedness of formations deployed across the strategically significant Northeastern theatre. As part of his visit, General Dhiraj Seth reviewed operational deployments, technological initiatives and capability enhancement programmes being undertaken across key formations of the Eastern Command. During his visit to the Trishakti Corps on July 14 and 15, 2026, the Army Chief was briefed extensively on the prevailing operational situation in the Eastern Command. The General Officer Commanding of the Trishakti Corps apprised him of the formation’s operational deployments, surveillance architecture and the evolving security dynamics in the region. The briefing highlighted the Corps’ efforts to maintain robust situational awareness and sustain a high state of mission readiness under challenging operational conditions.
General Dhiraj Seth also reviewed initiatives related to technology absorption, capability enhancement and force modernisation aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness across the formation. The Indian Army continues to prioritise the integration of advanced technologies into its operational framework as part of its broader transformation agenda, ensuring that frontline formations remain prepared to address both present and emerging security challenges.
On July 15, the COAS visited Bengdubi Military Station, where he reviewed the prevailing regional security arrangements and assessed the operational logistics capabilities supporting military deployments in the area. Robust logistical systems remain central to sustaining military operations and ensuring seamless force projection across strategically important theatres. The review highlighted the Army’s continued emphasis on maintaining resilient and responsive logistical support mechanisms that complement frontline operational capabilities.
General Dhiraj Seth subsequently visited the Spear Corps, where he evaluated the formation’s operational preparedness and ongoing initiatives aimed at further strengthening combat capabilities. He was briefed on the evolving operational environment, inter-agency coordination mechanisms and measures being undertaken to enhance mission readiness and operational responsiveness across the Northeastern region.
The Army Chief also reviewed community outreach initiatives undertaken by the Spear Corps to promote peace, stability and socio-economic development across the Northeast. Such programmes form an integral component of the Indian Army’s people-centric approach towards fostering trust and cooperation with local communities while contributing meaningfully to nation-building efforts in remote and strategically important regions.
Interacting with commanders and troops deployed across the formations, General Dhiraj Seth outlined his vision of “VIJAY” for the Indian Army—a transformative framework founded on the principles of Vigilance, Innovation, Jointness, Atmanirbharta and Yodha First.
