COAS General Dhiraj Seth Reviews Operational Preparedness of Gajraj Corps and 101 Area in Eastern Command

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth, during his ongoing visit to the Eastern Command, reviewed the operational preparedness of the Gajraj Corps and 101 Area, reaffirming the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining a high state of combat readiness while accelerating technological transformation and indigenous capability development. The visit underscored the strategic importance of the Northeastern theatre and the Army’s continued efforts to strengthen operational capabilities in an evolving multidomain security environment.

During the visit, the COAS was comprehensively briefed on the current operational deployments of the formations and the measures being undertaken to enhance their mission readiness. Senior military commanders apprised General Dhiraj Seth of the prevailing security situation, infrastructure development initiatives in forward areas and indigenous modernisation programmes designed to improve both operational effectiveness and logistical resilience.

The Army Chief reviewed ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening infrastructure in strategically important forward locations, recognising its critical role in sustaining military operations and ensuring rapid force mobilisation when required. Robust infrastructure development remains an integral component of the Indian Army’s broader modernisation agenda, particularly in geographically challenging operational environments where mobility, connectivity and logistical support are essential to maintaining operational superiority.

Particular emphasis was placed on indigenous modernisation initiatives being implemented by the formations to enhance their operational and logistical capabilities. The Indian Army continues to prioritise self-reliance in defence technologies and military systems through the adoption of indigenous solutions that contribute towards strengthening national security while advancing the broader vision of Atmanirbharta in defence manufacturing.

General Dhiraj Seth was also briefed on capability enhancement measures being undertaken to prepare the formations for the multidimensional nature of contemporary warfare. The integration of emerging technologies, adaptive operational concepts and indigenous innovations remains central to developing agile and future-ready military capabilities capable of addressing both conventional and emerging security challenges.

Interacting with officers, junior leaders and troops, the COAS commended all ranks for their unwavering commitment to duty, exceptionally high standards of operational readiness and exemplary professionalism while serving in demanding operational conditions. He acknowledged their sustained dedication towards safeguarding national security and maintaining peace and stability across the region.

The Army Chief particularly appreciated the seamless synergy demonstrated by the formations in coordinating with sister services and civil agencies within an increasingly complex multidomain operational environment. Modern security challenges demand integrated responses that leverage the collective strengths of military formations, civil administration and inter-service cooperation. Such collaborative approaches remain indispensable in ensuring mission success across the full spectrum of military and humanitarian operations.

General Dhiraj Seth lauded the formations for their exemplary contributions towards disaster relief operations, internal security responsibilities and nation-building initiatives across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. The Indian Army has consistently demonstrated its commitment to serving the nation beyond conventional military responsibilities through timely humanitarian assistance, disaster response and meaningful engagement with local communities across the Northeastern region.

The Gajraj Corps and 101 Area have played a significant role in maintaining peace and stability while contributing towards developmental initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people residing in remote and strategically important areas. Their sustained efforts reflect the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to both national security and societal welfare.

Highlighting the transformative changes shaping contemporary military operations, the COAS underscored that operational preparedness, technological transformation and self-reliance remain fundamental to building a future-ready Indian Army. He observed that future battlefields will increasingly demand technologically proficient and adaptable forces capable of seamlessly integrating innovation with combat excellence.
