Vairengte, Mizoram, July 26: As part of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations, the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School at Vairengte organised a comprehensive Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Outreach Programme to honour veterans, Veer Naris and their families while reaffirming the Indian Army’s commitment to their welfare.
The programme brought together Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and serving Army personnel for a series of activities aimed at recognising the sacrifices and contributions of the veteran community. The event highlighted the Army’s enduring bond with those who have served the nation with distinction.
A key feature of the outreach programme was an interaction session with veterans, providing them an opportunity to reconnect with the military fraternity and share their experiences. Veer Naris were also felicitated in recognition of the immense sacrifices made by the families of soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
To promote the health and well-being of veterans and their families, the CIJW School organised a medical camp and dental check-up as part of the event. The initiative ensured that attendees had access to essential healthcare services while reinforcing the Army’s continued support beyond active service.
An informative session was conducted by the Officer-in-Charge of the ECHS Polyclinic, Aizawl, who briefed the veterans on the healthcare facilities, medical benefits and welfare schemes available under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). The session also addressed various queries, helping veterans and their dependants better understand the support systems available to them.
Major General Kulvir Singh, Commandant of the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, addressed the gathering and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the veterans for their dedicated service and immense contributions to the nation. He also acknowledged the unwavering support and sacrifices made by their families, emphasising that their legacy continues to inspire future generations of soldiers.
The outreach programme reflected the Indian Army’s continued commitment to strengthening its relationship with the veteran community while ensuring that former servicemen and the families of fallen soldiers remain connected to the organisation they once served.
Organised as part of the Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 commemorations, the initiative underscored the importance of remembering the sacrifices of India’s soldiers and preserving their legacy through meaningful engagement with veterans and Veer Naris.
