Srinagar, July 28, 2026: Two Indian Army personnel were injured on Tuesday in an accidental mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident occurred at a forward post in the Kamalkote area while the soldiers were on duty. According to officials, the blast took place in the vicinity of the Upper Garh Forward Post of the 8 Rashtriya Rifles (8 RR), which operates under the 12 Infantry Brigade in the Kamalkote sub-sector.
The injured personnel have been identified as Dafadar Vijay Kumar (42) and Naik Sharanapa Angari (28). Both are posted with the 8 Rashtriya Rifles.
Officials confirmed that the blast was accidental in nature and was not linked to any cross-border firing or militant activity. The exact circumstances surrounding the explosion are being ascertained.
The injured soldiers were provided immediate first aid at the site and were subsequently airlifted to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital at Badami Bagh in Srinagar for specialised medical treatment. Their condition was not immediately disclosed.
Landmines are laid extensively along forward areas of the LoC as part of anti-infiltration measures. Such accidental blasts have occurred periodically, often due to shifting of mines caused by weather conditions, soil movement, or during routine operational duties in the heavily mined zones.
No further official statement has been issued by the Indian Army so far. Further details are awaited as investigations continue.
