Lieutenant General Amit Kabthiyal, YSM, SM**, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 11 Corps, visited Sainik School Kapurthala as part of an inspection visit aimed at reviewing the institution’s functioning and interacting with its leadership.
The visit commenced with the GOC paying floral tributes at the school’s ‘Smriti Sthal’, a memorial dedicated to the brave soldiers and alumni who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. Bowing in homage, Lt Gen Kabthiyal expressed his profound respect for the martyrs, acknowledging their courage, dedication and unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The solemn ceremony reflected the Indian Army’s enduring tradition of honouring its fallen heroes and preserving their legacy for future generations. The Smriti Sthal stands as a symbol of sacrifice and serves as a constant source of inspiration for the cadets of Sainik School Kapurthala, many of whom aspire to join the Armed Forces.
During the inspection, the Corps Commander reviewed various aspects of the institution, including its academic environment, training standards and overall development of cadets. He was briefed on the school’s efforts to nurture leadership qualities, discipline, character and physical fitness among students while preparing them for careers in the Armed Forces and other fields of national service.

Lt Gen Kabthiyal also interacted with the school administration, faculty members and cadets, appreciating their commitment to maintaining the high standards for which Sainik Schools are known. He encouraged the cadets to remain focused on their goals, uphold the values of integrity, discipline and patriotism, and strive for excellence in every sphere of life.
Highlighting the important role of Sainik Schools in nation-building, the GOC noted that these institutions have consistently produced generations of officers and leaders who have served the country with distinction. He emphasised that the schools play a vital role in instilling the ethos of selfless service, courage and leadership among young students.

The visit reaffirmed the close relationship between the Indian Army and Sainik Schools, underscoring the shared commitment to developing future military leaders equipped with strong moral values, professional competence and an unwavering dedication to serving the nation.
