Headquarters Uttarakhand Sub Area was honoured with the Governor’s Appreciation on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day in recognition of its exemplary contribution to the state and its people.
Maj Gen MPS Gill, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Uttarakhand Sub Area, received the appreciation on behalf of the formation from Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand Lt Gen Gurmit Singh at Lok Bhawan on August 15, in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The recognition acknowledges the formation’s sustained contribution across a range of activities, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, veterans’ welfare and civil-military coordination. The Uttarakhand Sub Area has continued to play an important role in supporting the state administration and local communities during challenging situations.
The formation has also remained actively engaged in disaster response and relief efforts, reinforcing its role as a dependable support mechanism during calamities in the mountainous state. Its personnel have contributed towards coordinated rescue, relief and assistance operations whenever required.
The Governor’s Appreciation also recognises the formation’s continued focus on the welfare of veterans and their families. Through various initiatives and engagement with the veteran community, the Uttarakhand Sub Area has worked towards ensuring continued institutional support for former service personnel.
Civil-military coordination remains another important area of the formation’s responsibilities. Close cooperation with the civil administration enables better coordination during emergencies and strengthens the ability of various agencies to respond effectively to situations affecting the people of Uttarakhand.
