The Annual Flight Safety Conference was held at Headquarters Western Command with a focus on strengthening flight safety practices, operational discipline and mishap prevention across Army Aviation.
The conference was chaired by Lt Gen H S Sahi, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Western Command, and brought together Army Aviation professionals to deliberate on measures aimed at enhancing safety and operational effectiveness.
The discussions focused on proactive risk management and the need to identify and address potential hazards before they develop into operational incidents. Participants also emphasised the importance of maintaining high levels of discipline and adherence to established aviation procedures.

Lt Gen Vinod Nambiar, SM, Director General and Colonel Commandant, Army Aviation, underscored the importance of professional competence and uncompromising standards in aviation operations.
He emphasised that a strong and proactive safety culture is essential for maintaining operational effectiveness while ensuring the safety of aircrew, aviation personnel and valuable military assets.
The conference provided a platform for aviation professionals to exchange experiences, examine operational challenges and reinforce best practices in flight safety and risk mitigation.

The deliberations highlighted that flight safety is not merely a technical requirement but an integral component of combat readiness and warfighting capability.
The conference reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining safe, effective and mission-oriented aviation operations while continuously strengthening professional standards and a culture of safety across Army Aviation.
