The Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies (CAPSS) organised the Surveillance, C4I2 and Electro-Optics 2026 seminar in New Delhi, bringing together senior military leaders, representatives from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), industry leaders and technology experts to deliberate on emerging capabilities for the modern multi-domain battlespace.
The seminar focused on the strategic and operational importance of surveillance, command, control, communications, computers, intelligence and information (C4I2), as well as advanced electro-optical technologies in strengthening situational awareness and decision-making.

Air Marshal Tejpal Singh, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS), delivered the inaugural address. He highlighted the growing importance of technology-enabled capabilities in addressing the complexities of contemporary and future military operations.
The discussions provided a platform for military and technology experts to examine emerging operational requirements and the integration of advanced surveillance and electro-optical systems into multi-domain operations.
The seminar also brought together stakeholders from the armed forces, defence research establishment and private industry, facilitating an exchange of perspectives on capability development, technological innovation and operational applications.

A comprehensive report titled “Strategic Role of Surveillance, Electro-Optics and C4I2 in Multi-Domain Operations” was also released during the event. The report provides a focused assessment of the role of these technologies in enhancing operational effectiveness across increasingly interconnected battlefields.
The seminar underscored the importance of integrating advanced sensors, surveillance capabilities and networked command-and-control systems to enable faster information flow, improved situational awareness and more effective decision-making.

The event also highlighted the need for continued collaboration between the armed forces, DRDO, industry and technology experts to develop and adopt capabilities suited to the demands of multi-domain warfare.
The CAPSS initiative reinforced the growing focus on technology-driven military transformation and the development of future-ready capabilities for India’s armed forces.
