Lieutenant General HS Vandra, General Officer Commanding, Madhya Bharat Area, visited the Gun Carriage Factory (GCF), Jabalpur, to review the organisation’s operational capabilities and its contribution towards strengthening India’s defence preparedness.
During the visit, Lt Gen HS Vandra interacted with Shri Rituraj Dwivedi, Chief General Manager, and was briefed on key production modules and ongoing initiatives at the establishment. The discussions covered the organisation’s efforts towards supporting the operational requirements of the Armed Forces through indigenous defence production.
The GOC took stock of various production-related activities and initiatives contributing to defence preparedness. The visit provided an opportunity to assess the capabilities of the organisation and understand the measures being undertaken to enhance efficiency, technological capability and responsiveness to emerging defence requirements.
Lt Gen HS Vandra highlighted the importance of strengthening indigenous defence capabilities and developing solutions that can meet the evolving requirements of the Armed Forces. He emphasised the need for continuous improvement, innovation and modernisation to ensure that defence production remains aligned with contemporary operational challenges.
The visit also underscored the importance of collaboration between operational formations and indigenous defence production establishments. Such interactions help bridge the gap between operational requirements and manufacturing capabilities while supporting the development of equipment suited to the needs of troops.
The GOC appreciated the efforts of the Gun Carriage Factory in contributing to national defence preparedness and encouraged continued focus on capability enhancement and technological advancement.
The visit reaffirmed Madhya Bharat Area’s commitment to supporting the development of a self-reliant defence ecosystem and promoting indigenous capabilities in line with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The engagement also highlighted the broader objective of building a future-ready Indian Armed Forces capable of responding effectively to emerging security challenges through modern technology, indigenous production and sustained capability development.
