In a significant milestone for women’s participation in specialised security operations, 25 women police personnel from Rajasthan have joined the first Mahila Commando Conversion Course (MCCC) being conducted by the National Security Guard (NSG) Training Academy at Manesar, Haryana.
The 12-week specialised training programme commenced on August 24, 2026, and is scheduled to continue until November 13. The initiative is aimed at developing physically robust, technically proficient and operationally ready women personnel capable of undertaking demanding counter-terrorism and security responsibilities.
The Rajasthan Police contingent represents the first group of women personnel from the state to undergo specialised NSG commando training. Their selection marks an important step towards creating a dedicated pool of trained women personnel capable of contributing to specialised operations and emergency response missions.
Before their departure for Manesar, the selected personnel were briefed on the demanding nature of the training. ADG Arms Battalions Rupindra Singh emphasised the importance of strict discipline, advanced weapons proficiency, operational precision and a zero-error approach during the course.
The 25 women constables were sent to Manesar from the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary’s 5th Battalion at Ghatgate. Their training is designed to develop the physical and mental resilience required to operate effectively in high-risk and challenging security environments.
The Mahila Commando Conversion Course covers specialised areas including physical conditioning, weapons handling and marksmanship, tactical intervention, hostage rescue and other facets of counter-terrorism operations. The programme is intended to provide participants with both technical skills and the confidence required to respond effectively during critical situations.
The initiative extends beyond individual training and seeks to strengthen India’s wider counter-terrorism architecture. By bringing together women personnel from State Police Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, the NSG aims to promote common professional standards and enhance interoperability among different security organisations.
The participation of Rajasthan Police personnel is particularly significant as they will carry the specialised skills and operational knowledge gained at Manesar back to their parent force after completing the course. This will help expand specialised capabilities within the state and strengthen preparedness for emergencies, high-risk security situations and specialised rescue operations.
The first MCCC also reflects the broader effort to expand opportunities for women personnel to undertake specialised operational roles within India’s security architecture. The focus is not simply on increasing women’s participation in uniformed services but on empowering them with advanced operational capabilities and specialised expertise.
The course is expected to strengthen participants’ ability to operate under demanding conditions, make decisions under pressure and contribute effectively to coordinated security operations. It also provides an opportunity for women personnel from different forces to train under common standards and develop greater professional interoperability.
For Rajasthan Police, the programme represents an important capability-building initiative that could create a specialised group of trained women personnel for future operational and emergency-response requirements. Their enhanced capabilities could also prove valuable in situations where trained women responders are operationally advantageous.
The initiative comes as part of a wider emphasis on Nari Shakti in India’s security forces, with women personnel increasingly being prepared for challenging responsibilities requiring physical endurance, technical competence, discipline and tactical decision-making.
The completion of the 12-week course in November will mark an important stage in the initiative, after which the trained personnel are expected to return to their respective forces with enhanced operational skills and specialised knowledge.
The launch of the first Mahila Commando Conversion Course, coupled with the participation of Rajasthan’s 25 women police personnel, represents a significant step towards building a wider pool of trained women commandos across India’s security establishment.
The initiative reinforces the message that women’s empowerment in the security sector must go beyond representation and extend to genuine operational capability, leadership and specialised preparedness — “She Who Dares, Leads.”
