In a heartwarming celebration symbolising the strong bond between India’s citizens and its Armed Forces, students and teachers from Maharishi Patanjali Vidya Mandir and Ganga Gurukulam in Prayagraj celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Indian Army personnel at Headquarters Purva UP & MP Sub Area.
The interaction was organised under the aegis of Madhya Bharat Area and brought young students face-to-face with soldiers for a special Raksha Bandhan celebration centred on affection, gratitude, patriotism and respect for those serving the nation.
Students Tie Rakhis to Soldiers
During the celebration, the students tied rakhis to Brigadier Navneet Dagar, Deputy General Officer Commanding (Dy GOC), as well as officers and soldiers of the formation.
The traditional Raksha Bandhan ceremony took on a special meaning as the students expressed their affection and gratitude towards Armed Forces personnel who spend long periods away from their families while performing military duties across the country.
The interaction provided the children with an opportunity to meet soldiers personally and understand the commitment, discipline and sacrifices associated with military service.
For the troops, the rakhis represented the affection and support of citizens whose security they are entrusted to protect.
Handmade Rakhis for Soldiers in Remote and Border Areas
The students also presented specially prepared handmade rakhis intended for Indian Army personnel deployed in remote and border areas.
These rakhis will carry the warmth and solidarity of citizens to soldiers serving far away from their homes, including personnel whose operational commitments may prevent them from celebrating festivals with their own families.
Military personnel frequently remain deployed in difficult terrain and isolated locations, including high-altitude regions, deserts, forests and sensitive border areas. Festivals such as Raksha Bandhan therefore often acquire a wider significance within the Armed Forces, with messages and gestures from citizens providing a reminder of the country’s support for its soldiers.
The handmade rakhis prepared by the students served as a symbolic connection between families in the heartland and troops stationed at distant posts.
Inspiring Young Minds With Values of Service
Beyond the traditional celebration, the interaction was also aimed at familiarising students with the values represented by the Armed Forces.
Meeting serving soldiers gave the children an opportunity to witness military personnel beyond what they normally encounter through books, television or public ceremonies. Such interactions can help young students understand values such as discipline, courage, responsibility, teamwork and service before self.
The Army said the heartfelt interaction strengthened the enduring relationship between citizens and their protectors while inspiring young minds with the values of patriotism, respect and service to the nation.
The participation of teachers and students from Maharishi Patanjali Vidya Mandir and Ganga Gurukulam also turned the celebration into an important civil-military outreach initiative.
