The initiative was inaugurated by Lt Gen Pankaj P Rao, Director and Commandant, AFMC, on August 29, 2026. The launch marks another step in AFMC’s continuing efforts to modernise medical education and training in line with evolving academic and technological requirements.

Officers Discussing 4

“Manthan” builds upon the longstanding legacy of the Medical Education Unit at AFMC, which was established in 1993. Over the years, the unit has evolved in response to changing requirements in medical education and was subsequently recognised as an NMC Regional Centre for Medical Education Technologies in 2019.

The new initiative seeks to further consolidate these efforts by providing greater emphasis on innovation, contemporary educational technologies and excellence in medical teaching and training.

The initiative is expected to encourage the adoption of modern approaches to medical education while strengthening the institutional ecosystem for faculty development, academic innovation and technology-enabled learning.

Officers Reviewing Presentation

The evolution of AFMC’s medical education infrastructure reflects the institution’s broader commitment to keeping pace with developments in healthcare, teaching methodologies and emerging technologies. “Manthan” is intended to build upon this foundation and provide further momentum to these efforts.

The initiative also reinforces the importance of continuous professional development in medical education, particularly as advances in technology and healthcare delivery increasingly influence the way medical professionals are trained.

With its focus on innovation and contemporary technologies, “Manthan” is positioned as a platform for strengthening the quality and relevance of medical education at AFMC and contributing to the development of future-ready medical professionals.

Room

The launch reaffirms AFMC Pune’s commitment to excellence in medical education and training and its continuing role in advancing innovative approaches within the Armed Forces medical education ecosystem.
