Air Marshal Kaushik Chatterjee assumed the appointment of Director General (Organisation & Personnel) in the Office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), marking a significant transition in the senior leadership of the Armed Forces Medical Services.
Air Marshal Chatterjee is a distinguished psychiatrist with more than 35 years of exemplary service. Over the course of his career, he has held several important clinical, administrative and leadership appointments across both the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force.
His extensive experience across the tri-service medical environment has provided him with exposure to a wide range of clinical and organisational responsibilities. His appointment comes at a time when the Armed Forces Medical Services continue to focus on strengthening healthcare delivery, human-resource management, modernisation and operational medical preparedness.
As Director General (Organisation & Personnel), Air Marshal Chatterjee will be responsible for important organisational and personnel-related matters within the AFMS, contributing to the effective functioning and continued development of the military medical establishment.
His long experience as a specialist and senior military medical officer is expected to further strengthen institutional planning, professional development and the effective utilisation of medical personnel across the Armed Forces.
The assumption of the appointment also reflects the AFMS’s continuing emphasis on experienced leadership, jointness and the integration of clinical expertise with organisational requirements to meet the evolving healthcare needs of serving personnel, veterans and their dependents.
