Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS, met Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Surya Command, at Lucknow and reviewed the Command’s operational preparedness, logistics capabilities and overall strategic readiness.
During the meeting, the Defence Secretary was briefed on the Command’s ability to maintain sustained combat readiness, ensure robust logistics support and respond swiftly and effectively to emerging operational challenges.
The briefing focused on the integrated approach adopted by Surya Command towards operational preparedness, force sustenance and logistics resilience. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring that formations and units remain adequately prepared to sustain operations across a range of contingencies.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of resilient logistics and effective resource management in maintaining operational effectiveness. Robust logistical support remains a critical component of sustained military readiness, particularly during prolonged or rapidly evolving operational situations.
Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh was also apprised of measures being undertaken to strengthen the Command’s preparedness and its ability to respond to emerging requirements. The emphasis on readiness, adaptability and sustained support reflects the evolving demands of modern military operations.
The interaction reaffirmed the focus of Surya Command on maintaining a high state of operational preparedness while ensuring the resilience and continuity of essential logistics and support systems.
The visit underscored the importance of coordination between the Ministry of Defence and field formations in strengthening force preparedness, sustenance capabilities and the Indian Army’s ability to remain mission-ready across the full spectrum of contingencies.
