Chennai, September 5, 2026: A total of 342 Officer Cadets, including 29 women, were commissioned into the Indian Army as the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, held the Passing Out Parade of the SSC-122 and SSC (Women)-36 courses on Saturday.
Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), reviewed the prestigious Passing Out Parade, which marked the culmination of months of rigorous military training for the Officer Cadets.
The parade showcased immaculate drill, smart turnout, exceptional coordination and the high standards of training imparted at OTA Chennai. For the graduating cadets, the ceremony marked their transformation from Officer Cadets into commissioned officers entrusted with the responsibility of leading soldiers of the Indian Army.
Of the 342 Indian Officer Cadets commissioned during the ceremony, 29 were women. The newly commissioned officers will now join various arms and services of the Indian Army and begin their careers as military leaders.
The ceremony also reflected India’s growing defence cooperation with friendly foreign countries. Seventeen Officer Cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries successfully completed their training at the academy. The foreign contingent included 10 women cadets.
Their graduation alongside Indian Officer Cadets further highlighted the longstanding military ties, camaraderie and training cooperation between India and partner nations.
Reviewing the parade, Admiral Krishna Swaminathan congratulated the passing-out Officer Cadets and their proud parents on the milestone. He highlighted the singular honour and responsibility associated with serving in the Armed Forces and leading troops in the service of the nation.
Addressing the newly commissioned officers, the Chief of the Naval Staff exhorted them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, courage and commitment throughout their military careers.
The Passing Out Parade represents one of the most significant moments in the life of an Officer Cadet at OTA Chennai. After completing their demanding training, the cadets marched past the reviewing officer before taking their final steps at the academy and entering commissioned service.
With 342 new officers joining the Indian Army, the September 2026 Passing Out Parade marked another important chapter in OTA Chennai’s legacy of producing military leaders prepared to serve the country with honour, courage and commitment.
