Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhry, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Central Air Command, addressed participants of HDMC-22 at the College of Defence Management (CDM), Integrated Defence Staff, on the evolving nature of “Future Warfare”.
During his address, Air Marshal Chaudhry highlighted how rapid technological advancement, greater jointness among the armed forces and emerging partnerships are reshaping the character of modern conflict.
He stressed the growing “democratisation of technology”, which has made advanced capabilities increasingly accessible and is changing the way military operations are planned and conducted. Against this backdrop, he underlined the importance of seamlessly integrating capabilities across different operational domains to enable effective Multi-Domain Operations (MDO).
The Air Marshal also emphasised that keeping pace with technological developments is no longer optional for military leaders. Staying abreast of emerging technologies and understanding their operational implications has become a core leadership requirement in an increasingly complex security environment.
Highlighting the role of the domestic defence industry, Air Marshal Chaudhry called for greater synergy between military users and industry. Close cooperation, he noted, is essential for developing solutions that are operationally relevant, scalable and capable of meeting the evolving requirements of the armed forces.
His address underscored the importance of combining technology, jointness, industry collaboration and forward-looking military leadership to prepare India’s armed forces for the challenges of future warfare.
