Air Marshal Vivek Hande, Director General Medical Services (Air), accompanied by Air Vice Marshal SGS Datta, Principal Medical Officer, Headquarters Training Command, visited medical establishments in Bengaluru on September 21 and 22, 2026, to review various aspects of medical training, administration, healthcare delivery and welfare.
During the two-day visit, the DGMS (Air) reviewed activities at Command Hospital Air Force, the Institute of Aerospace Medicine and the Medical Training Centre (MTC), Bengaluru.
The visit provided an opportunity to assess various aspects of medical support and professional training being undertaken at these establishments. The review covered medical training, administrative functioning, healthcare delivery and welfare-related aspects.
On September 22, Air Marshal Vivek Hande was received at the Medical Training Centre by Air Commodore AS Prasad, Air Officer Commanding, MTC.
During his visit to the centre, the DGMS (Air) inaugurated the newly constructed Synthetic Indoor Badminton Court at MTC. The facility adds to the recreational and fitness infrastructure available to personnel and trainees at the centre.
Air Marshal Vivek Hande also interacted with officers, Air Warriors and trainees of the Medical Training Centre. During the interaction, he appreciated their commitment and dedication towards their professional responsibilities.
The DGMS (Air) also acknowledged the sustained efforts of the Medical Training Centre towards maintaining high standards of medical training, professional development, administration and welfare.
The Medical Training Centre plays an important role in the professional development of personnel associated with the Indian Air Force’s medical services. The focus on training and professional development complements the broader healthcare responsibilities of Air Force medical establishments.
The visit to Command Hospital Air Force and the Institute of Aerospace Medicine further brought together different aspects of the Air Force’s medical ecosystem, encompassing healthcare delivery, specialised medical training and aerospace medicine.
