Gorakhpur, 7 October 2026: The body of CISF jawan Parambeer Yadav, 38, a resident of Baghagada in Gorakhpur district, was recovered late on Sunday night near the Bokta-Barwar embankment at Kalesar Zero Point, under the GIDA police station. He was posted in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, and was travelling home on leave when he was found unconscious beside the embankment. Local reports have also rendered his name as Parambir and Paramveer Yadav; some early accounts used Karmveer Yadav.
Passers-by alerted the police at about midnight. He was taken to BRD Medical College, where doctors declared him dead. Police identified him from the CISF identity card recovered from his pocket and informed the family. According to his brother, Dharmbeer, Parambeer had set out for the village on Sunday after his train was missed and had hired a vehicle for the remaining journey. He did not reach home.
The post-mortem report recorded injury marks on the head and confirmed that death was caused by those injuries. On a written complaint by his father, Dinesh Chandra Yadav, GIDA police registered a first information report for murder against unknown persons. Circle Officer Abha Singh said the report had established death due to head injury, after which the case was registered and evidence was being collected from the spot and from people who had been in contact with the deceased.
Police are tracing the hired vehicle in which he left Dhanbad, identifying other occupants, and checking stops along the route. CCTV footage from Kalesar and toll plazas on the road is being examined.
His wife, Pratima Yadav, has questioned the circumstances of the death. She told reporters that he telephoned before leaving Dhanbad, said he was coming home, and asked to speak to their daughter, Riya, who was asleep. She said she later called his number about 55 times that night and received no answer, and learnt only afterwards, through her brother-in-law, that he had been taken to hospital. The family has sought an impartial investigation.
After the post-mortem, the body, wrapped in the Tricolour, was handed to the family. Last rites were performed with state honours in the presence of police and CISF personnel. His father lit the pyre. Local reports place the funeral on Tuesday night.
The motive and the identity of those involved have not been established. The investigation remains open, centred on the hired vehicle, route CCTV, and the deceased’s contacts before he was found at the embankment.
