New Delhi, October 31, 2026: Mrs Archana Dixit formally assumed the responsibilities of President of the Air Force Families Welfare Association (AFFWA) on Saturday, succeeding Mrs Sarita Singh, who completed her tenure after leading several welfare initiatives for Indian Air Force families.
The formal handover marked the conclusion of Mrs Sarita Singh’s tenure, during which she played a significant role in strengthening welfare programmes, expanding outreach and promoting the well-being and empowerment of the Air Force fraternity.
During her tenure, Mrs Sarita Singh placed special emphasis on the welfare of Veer Naaris (war widows), children with special needs and families of Indian Air Force personnel. Her initiatives focused on ensuring inclusivity, dignity, equal opportunities and meaningful support for those requiring additional care and assistance.
Under her leadership, AFFWA worked towards strengthening existing welfare programmes while introducing new avenues for assistance, empowerment and community development. Her approach reflected a commitment to addressing the evolving needs of Air Force families and ensuring that welfare initiatives reached deserving beneficiaries.

Mrs Sarita Singh’s tenure also witnessed continued efforts to enhance the association’s outreach and reinforce its role as a support system for serving personnel, veterans and their families.
For decades, AFFWA has played an important role in promoting the welfare of Indian Air Force families through educational, social and community-based initiatives. The association has remained committed to supporting families facing challenging circumstances and creating opportunities for personal growth and empowerment.
Expressing its appreciation, AFFWA acknowledged Mrs Sarita Singh’s exemplary leadership, dedication and valuable contributions to the organisation. Her tenure was recognised for its emphasis on compassion, inclusivity and strengthening the welfare network within the Air Force community.

With Mrs Archana Dixit taking over as the new President, AFFWA enters a new chapter in its continuing mission to support and empower Indian Air Force families while carrying forward its longstanding tradition of service and welfare.
The leadership transition coincided with the retirement of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh as the 28th Chief of the Air Staff and the appointment of Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit as the 29th Indian Air Force Chief on October 31, 2026.
