Ludhiana, November 2, 2026: The Indian Army’s Vajra Corps, under the aegis of Western Command, organised the Punjab State Ex-Servicemen Rally in Ludhiana, bringing together veterans, Veer Naris, Veer Matas and military families to honour their contributions and reaffirm the Army’s enduring commitment to their welfare.
Held under the theme “Once a Soldier, Always Our Own – A Bond Beyond Service,” the rally celebrated the lifelong relationship between the Indian Army and its former personnel, recognising their courage, sacrifice and selfless service to the nation.
Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM**, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, attended the event and felicitated distinguished veterans for their contributions. He also interacted with Veer Naris, Veer Matas and military families, acknowledging their sacrifices and continued association with the armed forces.
Addressing the gathering, the Army Commander highlighted Punjab’s illustrious martial heritage and reaffirmed the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the dignity, welfare and well-being of its veterans and their families.
He also urged the youth of Punjab to stay away from drugs and adopt a lifestyle rooted in discipline, physical fitness and national service, emphasising the importance of building a healthy and responsible generation.

A major highlight of the rally was the establishment of four dedicated Seva Shivirs – Sampark, Sanjeevani, Rojgar and Sahuliyat, offering a range of essential services under one roof. These included healthcare assistance, pension-related support, employment opportunities and welfare services for ex-servicemen and their dependants.
The initiative provided veterans and their families with an opportunity to directly engage with concerned authorities, seek assistance and access various welfare schemes designed to support their post-retirement lives.

The rally reflected the Indian Army’s continuing efforts to maintain strong connections with its veteran community and ensure that those who have served the nation receive the recognition, respect and support they deserve.
The event concluded with a powerful message underscoring the Army’s enduring responsibility towards its former soldiers: “Their Service is Our Legacy. Their Dignity is Our Duty. Their Welfare is Our Commitment.”
