Basic introspection of repeaters has reported the lack of focus and concentration. It is never analysed by a common man. But SSB crew is trained to observe it. It plays a crucial role in SSB and most of the candidates get rejected due to this problem. Now firstly, let’s discuss what actually this thing is? In the Armed Forces, every officer has to operate and command his men, irrespective of the situation and circumstances. Keeping personal emotions out of the task, an officer must focus on handling the situation. It is the quality that most of the candidates neglect and then blames the SSB panel for partiality. Now, what is the requirement of this quality in SSB?

Well, it is not a non-curable problem. Nothing is impossible for and officers, but efforts are necessary. Following some steps can improve your concentration power. It will not give any instant result. But constant efforts will show you improvement in your concentration and focus power.

How to build focus to perform better in SSB

  1. Meditation – Meditation is always termed as the best way to build a good focus power. These days, yoga is emerging as the best way to increase the focus power and can replace mediation.
  2. Concentrate On What Is Said – One of the basic thing that most of the candidates skip during their preparation for SSB, is to increase their grasping power. This needs a focus on what is being asked and its respective response that will fulfil the requirement of the question.
  3. Observe things in Normal Life – Just observe the casual things in day to day life and try to talk to unknown people. The thing that is to be learnt is to observe the casual things like reading books, watching TV etc.
  4. Physical Exercise and Sports – Physical exercise increases mental strength and also improve the concentration efficiency. Running and doing basic physical exercises keeps your mind fit and healthy and ready to focus. Playing outdoor games or indoor games like chess also improves your concentration power.
  5. Practicing Basic Mind Games – Some specialist recommends mind games to improve concentration and focus. These mind games can be like counting from 100 to 1 continuously, or counting 100-1 with a gap of 3(100, 97, 94..) etc. These practices improve your concentration and aim binding ability.

Conclusion – Focus and concentration are one of the most important qualities that are expected in an officer. To find out this thing in yourself, you need to introspect yourself. So, make your next attempt, your final attempt and give your best.
