Scuffle Broke Out Between 4-5 Army Jawans And Officers

Scuffle broke out between a group ofย  a group of 4-5 army Jawans and officers after a Jawan died, possibly of a heart attack, after the entire unit was sent on a 10 kilometer march in armyโ€™s North-East unit today.

The deceased had complained of the chest pain but was found fit by the medical officer. During the training exercise of the unit he collapsed.

The incident triggered an angry outburst from the fellow jawans resulting in fight between jawans and officers. one Officer was beaten up by the agitated jawans for his alleged apathetic attitude. Senior officers have rushed to the spot to assess the situation. The Army has confirmed that this fight has resulted in injuries.

However, the army has described the incident as not a serious breach of indiscipline.

In a statement to the media, the Indian Army has said, โ€œA case of death of a jawan during routine training activity has taken place in an infantry unit in the North East. It is NOT a case of any mutiny. The Jawan complained of chest pain prior to route march โ€“ was checked by unit MO (Medical Officer) and found fit. The jawan later collapsed during route march โ€“ was brought to the Field Ambulance where he succumbed.โ€

Meanwhile, the court of enquiry has been ordered and the matter is being investigated.

The Army statement was issued after reports emerged on social media of a โ€œmutiny-likeโ€ situation involving officers and jawans in the area.
