Hello everyone, this is Deepak Kumar. I cleared my SSB in 2nd and 3rd attempt. In my first SSB I got Conference Out from 24 SSB Bangalore. In 2nd attempt I cleared for TES-35 from 17 SSB Bangalore and in 3rd attempt I cleared for 10+2 B.Tech from NSB Visakhapatnam. So here I begin my journey for attending  SSB.

After getting Conference Out from 24 SSB in August 2015 I was totally in depression. But I started my preparation for the coming SSB Interviews and side by side I was also preparing for the IIT entrance exams.

The reporting date for my SSB was 1 March 2016 at 2:00 PM. I left my home at 3:00 AM in morning on 1 March 2016. I reached Jaipur Airport and boarded flight in time. I reached Bangalore Airport by 10:00 AM. Then I reached Selection Centre South Bangalore by 12 noon. Then our documentation started from 2:00 PM and it got over by 8:00 PM. Number of candidates reported were 206. I got chest no. 176 for Stage 1 testing.

DAY 1

In morning everyone got ready and had breakfast within time and we went for testing. We were made familiar with instructions and test started. In Officer Intelligence Rating (O.I.R) I attempted 94 questions out of 100. Then In PP&DT I wrote my story within 70-80 words and completed in permitted time. The Narration & Group Discussion was excellent. When results were announced I was confident on my performance for selection. Out of 206 we 26 got screened in and out of 26 we 4 are from same group. I got new chest number i.e 18 for stage 2 testings.

DAY 2

We got up early in morning and got ready and had breakfast. Then our Group Photograph was taken and instructor told us instructions.  Tests started at 7:15 AM. I done my best and tried to attempt more and I was satisfied with my performance. I attempted in following way Thematical Apperception Test : 12/12, Word Association Test : 60/60, Situation Reaction Test : 43/60 and wrote complete Self Description.

Same day I was called for Personnel Interview. My interview is scheduled in evening 4:00 PM. So I went accommodation after Psychological tests and take rest. I went for interview on time ,my interview was wrapped up in 20 minutes only. Interviewing officer asked me about Jaipur City and my hobbies only, he asked me all questions in form of rapid fire questions and I answered all questions but I forget some questions but Interviewing Officer reminded me those question. I was satisfied with my performance.

DAY 3

We all are excited about GTO so we all performed our best and the groups are divided in categories 8 candidates in freshers group, 8 in screened out group and 10 in repeaters group. I was in repeaters group. Group discussion, Group Planning Exercise, Progressive Group Task, Half Group Task, Group Obstacle Race, lecturette, Individual Obstacles were done on GTO-I. Group Discussion Topics Were (a) Indo-Pak relations Improvement and (b) Which social media is Better Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter. My lecturette topic was “Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan” for which I spoke confidently for 3 minutes and I done 13 Individual Obstacles.Recommended TES-35 (ARMY) And 10+2 B.Tech (NAVY)

DAY 4

Only Command Task  and Final Group Task were left so the tests were over by 9:30 AM.

DAY 5

That Day everyone was nervous about results so we enjoy the moments before conference beginning and the instructors made us familiar with the Conference Procedure. Dy President of 17 SSB came around 8:30 AM for Closing Address. The Conference started at 9:00 AM. My conference was wrapped in 30 minutes Four Officers in Conference Room asked questions from me and I answered all questions confidently. Questions asked were about my performance during SSB, about my IIT Preparation, Current Affairs and Which problems India is facing.

RESULTS

We 6 were selected out of 26. Chest no. 3,10,11,18,25,26 were selected. Our friends congratulated us for the selection and they left for Railway Station. We thanked them and wished them Best of Luck for future. Then we got our Recommendation Letters.

 Recommendation from NSB Visakhapatnam

The reporting date for my SSB was 22 April 2016 at 6:00 AM at Visakhapatnam Railway Station. I left my home at 3:30 AM in morning on 21 April 2016. I reached Jaipur Airport and boarded flight in time. I reached Visakhapatnam Airport by 2:00 PM. Then I reached my staying place i.e Guest House by 3:30 PM to stay for rest Day.

DAY 1                                                                                                               

In morning I got up at 5:00 AM and reached Railway Station on time . Then I boarded NSB vehicle and reached SSB. After reaching NSB. We are allotted chest numbers, I got chest no. 1 for Stage 1 Testing. Then Documentation is Done and we are made familiar with instructions and test started by 10:00 AM. In Officer Intelligence Rating (O.I.R) I attempted 93 questions out of 100. Then In PP&DT I wrote my story within 70-80 words and completed in permitted time. The Narration & Group Discussion was excellent. When results were announced I was confident on my performance for selection. Out of 62 we 17 got screened. I got the same chest number i.e 1 for stage 2 testings.

DAY 2

We got up early in morning and got ready and had breakfast. Then our Group Photograph was taken and instructor told us instructions. Tests started at 8:30 AM. I done my best and tried to attempt more and I was satisfied with my performance. I attempted in following way Thematical Apperception Test : 12/12, Word Association Test : 57/60, Situation Reaction Test : 60/60 and wrote complete Self Description.

DAY 3

We all are excited about GTO so we all performed our best and the groups are divided in categories 9 candidates in repeaters group, 8 in screened out & freshers group. I was in repeaters group. Group discussion, Group Planning Exercise, Progressive Group Task, Half Group Task, Group Obstacle Race, Lecturrette. Group Discussion Topics Were (a) Nation can be developed by good economy or good military power or by corruption free environment and (b) Tourism in India Development. My lecturrette topic was “Metro Rail” and I spoke for confidently in time permitted.

DAY 4

Individual Obstacles, Command Task  and Final Group Task were left so the tests were over by 10:00 AM. I did all 10 Individual Obstacles.

Same day I was called for Personnel Interview. Firstly I waited for 3 hours and 30 minutes in waiting room with my documents My interview started at 3:00 PM. My interview was wrapped up in 15 minutes only. Interviewing officer asked me about my last SSB and my Family and some questions about Indian Army & Indian Navy. Sir also took Xerox of my Recommendation Letter of 17 SSB Bangalore.

 

DAY 5

That Day everyone was nervous about results so we enjoy the moments before conference beginning and the instructors made us familiar with the Conference Procedure. Dy President of NSB came around 9:00 AM for Closing Address. The Conference started at 10:00 AM. My conference was wrapped in 5 minutes, Dy. President asked questions from me in Conference Room and I answered all questions confidently. Questions asked were about my performance during SSB, about career option other than Defence Services and places in City where I went with my friends.

RESULTS

We 2 were selected out of 17. Chest no. 1 and 15 were selected. Our friends congratulated us for the selection and they left for Railway Station. We thanked them and wished them Best of Luck for future.
