Candidates aspiring to join Indian Navy through 10+2 B Tech Cadet Entry Scheme will now be shortlisted to join the force based on JEE Main scores instead of Class XII marks. Now, the marks obtained in the MPC in your 12th board exams will be invalid for this scheme and JEE Marks For B Tech Entry scheme will be considered for shortlisting the applicants.
According to reports, the CBSE has agreed to share JEE Main ranks with the naval academy as a better benchmark for selection of candidates. With the government approving the move, the Navy aspirants will have to appear for JEE (Main) in 2017 to be eligible for the Jan 2018 course at INA.
With this, the Navy now has 3 entry schemes producing officers: 78 from NDA, 110 from CDSE and now, 120 from 10+2 B Tech Cadet Entry Scheme.
The Navy wants all its new officers to have B Tech degrees apart from the traditional military and leadership skills when they graduate from the Indian Naval Academy in Kerala to make sure the new officers have the technical capabilities of handling and managing its hi-tech overhaul and armament.
The aspiring candidates for the 10+2 B Tech cadet entry scheme will now have to take the JEE (Main) in 2017 to be eligible for entry to the January 2018 course at the Indian Naval Academy. The registrations for the were being accepted in June 2016.
Shortlisting of candidates for SSB will be based on ‘Class XII (PCM) percentage’ or ‘JEE (Main)’ rank. While applying, the candidates can choose from either of the options.
For shortlisting, the Navy will choose an equal number of applicants from both the lists based on the set cut-off and will adjust the list if the response from either of the options is less, i.e. candidates from the other list will be considered for shortlisting.
Any candidate, who applies separately through both the options, will be disqualified from examination.
So, for those of you who thinks marks doesn’t matter, think upon it again.
