Passion, a word misused

Passion is a very strong emotion, not to be taken lightly. Passion is often associated with something you are crazy about, something for which you can do anything. People often associate passion with love and romance, which is yet another strong feeling. But here we’ll be taking about the passions which you may have in your life. It’ll be not wrong if I’ll say that if you really want to achieve something, you should be willing to do anything and everything to accomplish it. This whole emotion can be easily translated into one word that is passion. If you are passionate about something you are sure to get it, some day or the other. Many candidates go in the SSB and say that they are passionate to join the forces, they forget that this is a very string word, and thus shouldn’t be used lightly, as already said. If you go and say that you are passionate to join the forces, you should have evidence to prove that.

I know somebody who went and said in his interview that he is passionate about airforce, and when the officer asked him a few questions regarding airforce, in the later part of the interview, he couldn’t answer. So it was proved in minutes that he is not passionate about what he said.

How to tell if you are passionate about something:

  1. The first and most important thing is that you’ll have immense knowledge about that subject. If you like football, you must be having knowledge about its tournaments, some players, but if you are passionate about football you must know in and out of it. You must know every player, every club, pretty much everything.
  2. If your passion is a goal, you’ll never let it go. You’ll never say die, no matter how many times you face failure. You’ll leave no stone unturned to accomplish that goal and you’ll try again and again, learning a new thing from every failure you face.

So in the interview when you are asked the reason why you want to join the forces, and you say that you are passionate about it, it is a very wrong way. You can be passionate about certain things in the forces, you can’t say that you are passionate about the fauj itself! You can be passionate about getting the uniform, you can be passionate about flying, aircrafts or weapons, or you can be passionate about ships. You can also be passionate about some sports or some hobby of yours, because of which you may want to join, as in the forces you get a fair chance to play and pursue you dream.
Passion is a very positive word, it channelizes your energies in a right direction. Every human who has a passion for something, has a very strong and positive personality. If you have passion for any hobby, or any anything, be it books, games or coins, you can always look forward to life.>
