Punjab has a new reason to celebrate as Armaanpreet Singh, a cadet from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) in Mohali, has achieved the top rank in the all-India merit list for the National Defence Academy (NDA). Aiming for the skies, Armaanpreet is set on joining the Indian Air Force with aspirations to fly the formidable Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet.

In the recently declared results, 641 candidates have qualified for the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the NDA’s 153rd course and the 115th Indian Naval Academy Course. Armaanpreet Singh claimed the first spot, closely followed by Hardik Garg and Nikhil Raj.
Punjab’s Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Aman Arora, announced Armaanpreet’s achievement, highlighting his status as the third cadet from MRSAFPI to secure the all-India first rank in the past 12 years. Armaanpreet, the son of Satbir Singh, a physics lecturer from Gurdaspur’s Bhandal, is being celebrated for his exceptional academic record and dedication to his goal of serving the Indian Air Force.
Fourteen additional cadets from MRSAFPI also made it to the merit list, with Keshav Singla notably securing the 15th rank. Currently, a few cadets are completing their medical examinations as they await call-up letters for training.
Minister Arora extended his congratulations to Armaanpreet and his peers, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence as they embark on their journey to become future officers. Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, Director of MRSAFPI, also lauded their success, noting that this year marked one of the institute’s highest number of selections for the NDA course.
Since its establishment, MRSAFPI has successfully prepared 238 cadets who have gone on to join various service training academies, with 160 alumni commissioned as officers in the Indian defence services. Major General Chauhan shared that the institute is also awaiting the release of the technical entry merit list, anticipated soon, which may bring even more pride to the institute and Punjab.
