Operation Launched by Rashtriya Rifles in Kishtwar Sector Amid Allegations of Civilian Mistreatment

A targeted military operation was initiated in the Kishtwar sector following credible intelligence regarding the movement of a terrorist group. The operation, carried out by units of the Rashtriya Rifles on November 20, 2024, aimed at neutralizing the identified threat in the region.

While the primary objective of the operation was to enhance security and combat terrorism, reports have emerged suggesting the alleged mistreatment of civilians during the military action. Such claims have raised concerns among the local population and human rights advocates regarding the conduct of the security forces.

In light of these allegations, the White Knight Corps, which oversees military operations in the region, has announced that an investigation will be conducted to examine the circumstances surrounding the operation and the treatment of civilians. The investigation aims to ensure transparency and accountability, reassuring the public that any misconduct will be addressed appropriately.

The situation in Kishtwar has been tense, with increased military presence aimed at countering insurgent activities. Local authorities are now closely monitoring the repercussions of the operation and the impact on community relations, as they seek to balance security needs with the rights and safety of residents in the area.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses and as the military continues to assess the effectiveness of its counter-terrorism strategies in the region. Residents hope for a resolution that not only addresses the immediate security concerns but also safeguards the dignity and rights of civilians caught in conflict zones.
