Over 2,600 Agniveers Pass Out at Ceremony in Hyderabad, Joining Indian Army's Artillery Regiment

The fourth set of Agniveers officially completed their training in a grand passing out ceremony held at the Artillery Centre in Hyderabad on December 3, 2024. This remarkable cohort of over 2,600 Agniveers is one of the largest groups to graduate from any regimental centre of the Indian Army. Upon completion of 31 weeks of rigorous training, these newly minted gunners are set to join their respective artillery regiments.

The ceremony featured a large parade attended by military officials, civilian dignitaries, and the families of the Agniveers, all gathered to celebrate this significant achievement. Major General Punit Mehta, the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Artillery and General Officer Commanding of the Jodhpur Sub Area, presided over the parade. In his address, he characterized the event as a pivotal moment in the history of the Indian Army, emphasizing the vital role the Agniveers will play in nation-building as they step forward to serve their country.

The Agniveers showcased their training successes through a captivating military symphony at the Makhan Singh Stadium. The performance included traditional exercises, such as Malkhamb, combat martial arts, and a torch relay, illustrating their skill, determination, and the discipline they have cultivated throughout their training. This exhibition not only highlighted their readiness to face new challenges within the Regiment of Artillery but also served as a testament to their dedication and resolve.

The ceremony began with a solemn wreath-laying at the War Memorial, where dignitaries honored the sacrifices of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in defense of the nation. This moment of remembrance set a respectful tone for the celebrations that followed, reflecting the dual themes of sacrifice and service that underscore the Agniveers’ commitment.

For the Agniveers, this passing out ceremony marks a significant milestone in their military careers, representing a proud moment for both the individuals and the Indian Army. As they transition from rigorous training to active service, these newly installed Gunners are poised to take their place in the ranks of one of the most esteemed branches of the Indian military.
