Declared brain dead following a massive stroke, her family made the courageous and selfless decision to donate her liver, kidneys, and corneas, offering a second chance at life to multiple individuals in need.

This landmark event marks the first-ever organ retrieval of its kind in the history of any zonal military hospital within the command theatre.

The noble act was made possible through the unwavering commitment and coordination of medical teams from Military Hospital Jalandhar and Army Hospital (Research & Referral), who worked diligently to ensure the successful retrieval and future transplantation of the organs.

Mrs. Nirmala Devi’s legacy now lives on through the lives she has touched—a true testament to love, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of humanity. Her generosity will not only save lives but also inspire countless others to follow in her footsteps.

As we honour her memory, let us all take a moment to reflect on the power of one decision. Pledge to become an organ donor—because in giving life to others, we create a legacy that transcends our time on Earth. Your one decision can save many.
