General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Indian Armed Forces, visited the Trishakti Corps at Sukhna Military Station on September 18, 2025, to review ongoing capability development projects. The visit underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to enhancing operational preparedness amid the designated “Year of Reforms” in 2025.
During the visit, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Trishakti Corps briefed General Chauhan on the formation’s operational readiness and the innovative initiatives undertaken as part of the reform agenda.
The CDS expressed admiration for the corps’ excellence, particularly highlighting their contributions to national security in the strategically vital northeastern region.General Chauhan also felicitated meritorious personnel, recognizing their dedication and service.
The event included a detailed review of capability development projects, aligning with the broader goals of modernizing the Indian Armed Forces.
The Trishakti Corps, headquartered in Sukna, Siliguri, North Bengal, has been a cornerstone of India’s defence strategy since its re-establishment in 1960. This visit comes in the context of heightened military focus following the 2020-2021 China-India border skirmishes, which prompted significant infrastructure development and troop deployment along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
General Chauhan, appointed CDS in September 2022 after the untimely demise of General Bipin Rawat, brings extensive experience from his tenure as Eastern Army Commander, reinforcing his role as a key architect of military transformation.
The Indian Armed Forces continue to prioritize technology absorption and operational self-reliance, with partnerships extending to academia, startups, and industry to fast-track innovation.
