Rear Admiral Deepak Singhal, VSM assumed charge as the Chief Staff Officer (Training) at Southern Naval Command (SNC) on October 16, 2025, bringing extensive operational and training experience to the role.
Commissioned on 1 January 1994, Rear Admiral Singhal is an alumnus of the Naval Academy, Goa, the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, the Naval War College, and the National Defence College, New Delhi. A specialist in Navigation and Direction, he has held a range of pivotal appointments including Captain Work Up at WWT (West).
Rear Admiral Singhal uniquely commands a distinguished record of commanding frontline warships, including INS Nirghat, INS Kora, INS Kulish, INS Delhi, and INS Mysore. He has also served in various staff appointments at Naval Headquarters and the Naval War College. Prior to assuming his current assignment, he served as Commanding Officer of INS Angre, the Indian Navyโs largest Base Depot Ship.
His appointment reinforces the Southern Naval Commandโs focus on enhancing training standards, operational readiness, and leadership development across the Indian Navy.
