President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, undertook a sortie in a Rafale fighter aircraft at Air Force Station Ambala, Haryana, on October 29, 2025. With this historic flight, she became the first President of India to have flown in two different fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force, having earlier taken a sortie in a Sukhoi-30 MKI in 2023.
Air Force Station Ambala holds the distinction of being the first IAF base to receive Rafale aircraft from Dassault Aviation, France. The President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, flew for approximately 30 minutes, covering nearly 200 km at a height of about 15,000 feet and a speed of 700 km/h. I congratulate the Indian Air Force and the entire team of Air Force Station Ambala for organising this sortie successfully.”
