5 Killer Ways To Boost Your Self-Confidence

For every parent,the first line while describing their child is “Iska dimag bhot tezz hai! He is having enormous potential!!!”. No matter how dull or lazy their child is, somewhere it’s a blind belief that their son/daughter is the best one. The power of that belief is so much it turns that same dull guy into a bright one, why???? Because the myth becomes reality if you put efforts to make it one with confidence and hardwork.
But as we go out of our homes, for graduation or for any other reason,out of our comfort zone we tend to doubt our own potential. But don’t loose your hope because here’s the key for how to fight that situation.
1. Judge:
Judge, not others but yourself. Look at yourself from the eyes of others,and by others, I don’t mean someone who know you,I mean someone who don’t know you but your deeds and displays. And be as just as possible in that. If you are not working hard,be it because of any reason,accept the FACT that you are not working hard enough. You’ll never be able to improve yourself untill you get to know that there is a scope of improvement. And there is always some scope of improvement.

2. Criticise:
Again,not others but yourself. There is a thin line between criticising and judging. In judging you have to look at yourself but in criticism you have to judge yourself and make a specific comment or decision(mostly bothering or provoking) which will surely fall in your favour if you know how to use your aggression in right direction. And the best way for this according to me is to compare yourself with “perfect version” of yourself. “Kaash main aisa hota” , that “kaash” version of yourself and we all are good in imagining things so it won’t be a tough task :p

3. Change:
Done with judging and criticising, now is the time for a verdict. Punishments or hardships are actually way to make a person better than he was before. Don’t get too rough but make changes slowly, adapt and implement. Change is the law of nature,follow that law. Changes are good,change is constant,and even if your change is not appropriate, you’ll get experience.

4. Gain Control:
Chain that wild dog inside you. Learn to command your nerve. Like an ascetic, develop a lifestyle where you can control your impulse and maintain discipline,there is no need to be too much into that but if you’ll try for 100% you’ll reach 60 or something… Just like I get. So,try your best to get over your bad habits and addictions if any.

5. Love Yourself:
Easiest yet the toughest one to follow. Everything is OK unless your guilt starts dominating your confidence. But to be specific, like a parent,love yourself with all your faults and mistakes,with courage to overcome failures. A never ending love and affection for oneself,because if you yourself can’t do this then don’t expect anyone ever would.

With all these points stated I tried my best to make it short and simple, and I hope it would be helpful to all of you reading this. So do listen to others, but never take any negative remark too seriously if it’s baseless.

Recommended For Indian Coast Guard [PSB and FSB Experience]

Hi to all defence aspirants there, this is Prashant Thakur a graduate from govt. PG college Dharamshala HP. Today I want to share my experience of coast guard PSB and FSB with you guys . This was my 2nd attempt overall but first attempt for coast guard. In first attempt  I went to AFSB Mysore and got conference out there. Now my PSB [Preliminary Selection Board] was on 23rd JAN. I started my journey from Baijnath  Himachal Pradesh  on 22nd night and reached Delhi on 23rd. I got freshen up at my friends house and reached coast guard board Noida at 12 pm .

On reaching there I got to know that due to  electricity cut , they were behind the schedule and the morning batch had not been concluded , so we all candidates had to wait there for around 4 hours for our written and document verification. At around 4 pm they called our lot of 127 students for documents check.

So I ran fast and got into first seat for documentation, the Navik sir checked my documents , after that, I got some relief  . They took around another half an hour for the document check of other candidates and in the mean time I did my lunch and that too from my friends   tiffin which I made there J . At around 5 Pm the officer there  started giving us our answer sheets  . The officer was too slow that he took another half an hour to give us our answer sheets. Then we entered the room where an officer instructed us about the test.

The test was in 7 parts, the first section was  of  10 questions and mind it that first 5 questions were like demons , I couldn’t even touch them so I just made guesses to them ,u guys also don’t worry about the first 4-5 questions because they are made hard intentionally just to intimidate you and check your mental balance . Hardly one can crack them , so just chill.  The other 5 questions were of blood relations , those one I cracked.

Hence, I got a momentum after that and started cracking  other sections. As a  whole the test was moderate but the only thing which make this test hard is the time constraint. For every question there , hardly one gets  few seconds varying from 4-45 , and as they show the questions on a projector screen, the question would be flipped after its  limited time of few seconds . So u can’t even recall a question even if u spare some time at the end.

After  the test I was not sure about my written because I thought the questions were too easy to crack and hence many candidates would have given their best , hence the merit would be high. Me and my friends ( which I made there) were discussing our responses and were laughing that aisa ch***a test aj tak nii dia. After around 10 mins the results came and the officer started announcing the names.

The names were in alphabetical order so I was having my mind on that . My heart started pounding as he was about to reach letter (p) , but in a flow he announced my name PRASHANT THAKUR . I got delighted and started focusing on my PPDT.  At the end we 35 only qualified the written. I was pretty much amazed that instead of having such an easy test many could not crack it down, may be due to the time constraint.

Then they made 3 groups for the PPDT . In my group there were  12 guys. The PPDT picture was a bit strange as there was a terrorist kind of creature in that. I don’t know why I  chose to make a normal story of a student preparing for exams and relaxing  in hills . in the GD  I got to know after hearing all other candidates story that mine is totally different and I can’t take much part in the discussion .The other candidates there made story on defence operation or about some officer etc. so what I did is that I collected imp. Points from each one’s story and started putting emphasis on making a collective story as my group was nice so they gave assent to that and in that way I controlled  50 % of the discussion.

Everyone was giving assent to my suggestion of taking points from each one’s story ,I elaborated their points by adding my ideas too. In the end, the officer asked us to make a common story . we nominated one guy from our group ( who got recommended later on ). He started the story with his own points and that’s why the officer  interrupted him and asked the whole group that is it his story or the group story , we said the group story and also said  that he would add the common points  in between.This thing was important because the officer was just trying to see that do we have faith on our chosen fellow  or not .

After hearing that the officer  sent us outside. I was pretty much sure of my selection. My chest number for the GD was  14 . In 5 mins the result came and the officer  announced my chest number in the first go . I was happy and started anticipating my next step.  6 out of 12 got through  for the next FSB procedure.

The whole day went very well for me, I was happy that my whole effort didn’t go in vain. Then they  did our biometric and told us to look on the site for the FSB date. The next day I came to my hometown again and started introspecting about my mistakes of previous AFSB at Mysore. Friends only thing which will save you in ssbs  is introspection. I analysed that myself description wasn’t up to my personality last time. So I took guidance from a very nice person ( Sanjeev Bhaiya ) whom I met in AFSB Mysore ( He has got recommended from diff. ssb’s thrice ) .From his experience he gave me valuable advice to be just myself .

The only thing I would suggest u guys is that whatever u think about something whether it is good or not , say or write only that as an instance if in WAT a word comes WOMAN then whatever comes in ur mind as a first thought put up that only there ,  In my mind there came attraction , so I made a sentence like that only. Hence, with a changed view for the ssb this time I went.

On 7th of Feb, my reporting was there at coast guard selection board at 1 pm. I reached there timely with all my luggage. They again checked  our documents.

After that they allotted us our rooms and bedding. In coast guard u have an option of residing outside the board also so if anyone resides in Delhi only or wants to reside at some relatives place is free to do that. In FSB I made my first friend Akarsh , a very nice fun loving guy, we chose to reside in the same room. The next day we had our psychology test and in the morning they gave us our chest nos. I got 23 chest number. I don’t know the moment I got that chest number I started feeling lucky. I told my fellow friends that guys  now am lucky and u will see that on the of conference I would be standing in front of u with recommendation. They started laughing and I also amused. For psychology, they took us in a theater room.

In my TAT I made simple and real type of stories. The only suggestion for TAT is that make simple , happy  and whatever u see in the picture stories. Even if there is some negativity try to mould that negativity in your story like if u see some robbery then put  up a simple tactical solution for stopping the robbery . IN WAT I made sentences on the very first thought came into my mind whether it is wrong , negative, positive,foolish, anything which came in mind first. If u find it difficult to put up your original idea by thinking that it is vulgar or something then u can mould your sentence but don’t mould the thought.

In SRTs I did only 40 but again the original ideas  according to my capacity and knowledge. One incident happened there with me is that after the SRTs I forgot to submit the SRT booklet WhIch I gave after my SD. The officer there scolded me for that and noted my chest number too. One guy there  tried to intimidate by saying that they have noted your chest number and now u r screwed , but I maintained my temper and again said to him in a amusing manner that on conference I would be there in front of u standing robustly. After lunch some people were having there GTO’s but my group was free. So I chilled and prepared some G.K .

The next day I had my interview after lunch with the president of the board . I prepared myself again , got dressed in a robust manner and sat with  other candidates waiting for interviews. I had to wait around 3 hours for my interview call. When they called I was exhausted of waiting but still maintained my decorum and entered the room. The interviewer was a great personality of 6 feet height and well dressed in a suit. I said namashkar sir and greeted him , he asked me to take my seat.

My interview went for around 45 mins and he asked me about my family, friends , my hobbies ,where I hail from, my education background. My current job profile ( I work as a teacher in my Father’s school ).He screwed me in physics ,Bio, current affairs but I politely tried to give those answers I knew and said I don’t know to those I didn’t know. He asked  me –

Why I want to join this ?

Me- for good pays and allowances.

But there are other jobs also having good pays and allowances ?

Me- sir the kind of personality I want to see in me in the coming future suits this job that’s why .

he asked me an SRT to which I gave my thought. He asked me more about my routine in working days and on Sundays. He asked about my life in Himachal and why I went to Himachal after mt 12th from Delhi. So overall my interview was nice ( means average 😉  ).

Next day I was having my GTO’s- in which first we discussed on the topic of the reason behind increase in crime related to women , the next Gd was on the topic India as an emerging superpower. I didn’t say too much in both the GDs because from my past experience at Mysore AFSB , barking like dogs in GDs  doesn’t fetch that much , so I spoke little but gave relevant points and facts. In the first topic related to women the whole group went against me  when I said that media and this internet has also paid a share in this because as we all know that rate of watching porn in India is at the peak.

There was a guy who even shouted at me that watching porn doesn’t mean the guy is a rapist . I gave him a practical reply to which nobody could contradict and I guess the GTO noted my point. The next was group planning exercise which went fine, so my buddies always be free to express your ideas but be ready to defend them with a proper conscience also.  Then was the lecturette which I spoke fluently and  everyone was saying that it was the best among us.

Next day I was free and went to see my friend at Connaught place. On Friday our conference was there. Though one the first day I was pretty much confident about my recommendation but coming through all the procedure and few weird instances , I was then neutralised and was ready to face the consequences.

I could not understand That gesture may be they were talking about me. Then they called me and told me to have my seat and asked me-

So Prashant what is the most cheerful thing of this morning ?

Me -Sir , my conference.

So tell me Prashant what u will do to liberalise the stress on students who prepare for IITjee ?

Me- I told them about the current govt. scheme of making up 12th percentage  in IIT Jee evaluation, and as my thought I told them that 10th  weightage also should be added to it .

So Prashant u r a teacher, do your students like u and if they like u why do they like u ?

Sir off course they like me because I always tell some stories to them related to the topic and my experiences too.

So what story did u tell them lately ?

Sir there are some students who are preparing for NDA and as I went to afsb Mysore recently so I shared my whole experience with them , the mistakes I did there , the things I learnt there.

Then we all waited inside a room, till around 4 o clock the conference went . the officer came after  few minutes gave an inspiring speech ( blah blah blah hehehe ) . then he started the chest numbers , the whole 5-day procedure was going in my mind and as the officer said 21 my heart started pounding more but god wants that and chest number 23 came and I stood called my name and stood by my fellow mates for coast guard. After that the friends congratulated me and also amused me by saying – tu saaale bada confident tha pehle din se – well done yar )and I said thanks to them.

So my friends this was my whole experience . at the end I would say just be confident and sochke jao ki iss bar to hona hi he recommend and work for that , prepare urself in ur own way, take guidance from people u think are relevant. At the end I would like to murmur few words which always inspired me through – kaash har hindustaani ke dil me jalti hui lou ko parr lag jayen orr us lou ki parvaz se sara jahan roshan ho jaye – APJ Abdul Kalam. Meet Capt Simratpal Singh, First Sikh To Serve US Army With Beard & Turban

A Sikh U.S. Army captain has been granted a long-term religious accommodation to wear a beard, turban and uncut hair in uniform, a decision supporters hailed on Friday as a landmark that could help other religious Sikhs to serve in the military.

Captain Simratpal Singh received the accommodation in a memorandum from Assistant Army Secretary Debra Wada dated March 30. The memo spelled out certain limitations and said the Army was working to develop uniform standards for soldiers who receive such waivers.

The accommodation for Singh is the first for an active-duty Sikh soldier since the Pentagon took steps two years ago to give individual troops greater latitude to wear turbans, head scarfs, yarmulke and tattoos as part of their religion.

The Pentagon’s move sought to make it easier for Muslims, Sikhs, Jews, Wiccans and others to follow the tenets of their faith while serving in the U.S. military. But advocacy groups say the process remains difficult.

The accommodation for Singh, a West Point graduate and Army Ranger, was granted only after he sued to prevent the service from requiring him to undergo extensive testing to ensure that his beard and hair did not interfere with his helmet or gas mask.Capt Simratpal Singh

Even as his court case was pending, Singh passed a routine gas mask test with his unit. In barring the extensive testing, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell said it made little sense since 100,000 soldiers had been allowed beards for medical reasons.

Advocates say Singh is the first active duty Sikh soldier to be permitted to begin wearing a turban, long hair and beard even though he had previously served without them. Singh followed Army grooming standards when he entered the military academy at West Point but regretted it and sought an accommodation last year.

“My faith … is an integral part of who I am. I am thankful that I no longer have to make the choice between faith and service to our nation,” Singh said in a statement issued by the Sikh Coalition.

Amandeep Sidhu, one of Singh’s attorneys with McDermott Will & Emery, called the Army decision “a step in the right direction” but added “we are not satisfied with the U.S. military’s arduous, piecemeal approach to this issue, which forces all observant Sikhs to seek individual religious accommodations.”

Singh’s legal team also filed a federal lawsuit this week on behalf of three other Sikh service members seeking a religious accommodation.

HIGHER EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, PREVIOUS PERFORMANCES, NCC BACKGROUND, ETC HAVE NO ROLE TO PLAY. THOSE IN THE MERIT LIST AND WHO COME WITHIN THE STIPULATED STREAM WISE VACANCIES, AND ARE MEDICALLY FIT ARE ISSUED JOINING LETTERS FOR PRECOMMISSIONING TRAINING AT IMA.

TGC 124 SSB Interview Date

  • Short listing of Applications. Integrated HQ of MoD(Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cutoff percentage of marks for each Engineering discipline/ stream without assigning any reason .
  • Only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cutoff percentage will be interviewed at Selection Centres, Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP) and Bangalore (Karnataka) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Call Up letter for SSB interview will be issued by the respective Selection Centres, through candidate’s registered e-mail id and through SMS. Candidates will not be interviewed locally. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of DG Rtg, IHQ MoD (Army) and no request for changes are entertained in this regard.
  • SSB Interviews will be held from Oct 2016 onwards.
  • Candidates will put through two stage selection procedure. Those who clear Stage I will go to Stage II. Those who fail in Stage I will be returned on the same date. Duration of SSB interviews is five days excluding day of arrival and details of the same are available at official website of Rtg Dte www.joinindianarmy.nic.in
  • In case of candidates appearing in their final semester/year/backlogs/re-evaluation/improvement exam, they are required to bring a Bonafide Certificate on the original letter head duly signed by Principal/Head of the institution stating that you are appearing in the final semester/year/back/re-evaluation/improvement exam which must be completed prior to 01 JAN 2017 for TGC-124 (before commencement of this course in the academy as specified in the notification). specimen att at Appendix ‘A’ of Common Call Up Instructions.

TGC 124  Change of Interview Dates

Request for change of SSB Interview date should be avoided. However, under most unavoidable circumstances, such change may be considered based on the circumstances of the case. This will be an exception rather than the rule. Request for such change should be forwarded to Selection Centre from where the call-up letter for SSB interview has been received and not to Directorate General Recruiting.

Indian Army TGC 124 Recruitment 2016 Notification Apply Online. Indian army is soon going to open the online registration for TGC 124 – Technical Graduate Course 124 for the engineering graduates to join Indian army. Applications are invited from married/unmarried MALE Engineering Graduates for 124th Technical Graduates Course (commencing in Jan 2017 at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun).

Candidates who will be shortlisted for TGC 124 SSB interview will get the TGC 124 centre allotment and TGC 124 ssb date in which they have to attend the TGC 124 SSB Interview.

TGC 124 Notification Eligibility

  1. Nationality: A candidate must either be : (i) A citizen of India, or (ii) A subject of Bhutan, or (iii) A subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
  2. Age Limit: – 124 Technical Graduate Course (TGC) : 20 to 27 years i.e, candidates born between 02 Jan 90 and 01 Jan 97, both dates inclusive. (NOTE : The date of birth accepted by the office is that entered in the Matriculation or an equivalent examination certificate. No other document relating to age will be accepted and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.
  3. Educational Qualification: Candidates should have passed the requisite Engineering Degree or be in the final year of Engineering Degree course. The candidates in the final year of Degree Course should complete all their examinations related to the degree, like, written, practicals, viva-voce, projects, backlogs, etc prior to 01 Jan 2017 for TGC 124. They should be able to produce the Engineering Degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at IMA/OTA. Such candidates will be inducted on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training at IMA/OTA as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite Degree Certificate.

TGC 124 Notification How To Apply Online

  1. Applications will only be accepted online on website “www.joinindianarmy.nic.in”. Click on Officer Menu then go to How to Apply and then click ONLINE APPLICATION. Fill the online registration form. Note down the user id and password. Tips to assist in filling up fields have been provided as you click on ONLINE APPLICATION. Before submitting the application check the entries made and save the application. After submitting, take two copies of the printout and the Roll Number generated by the system.
  2. Preference of Entry: – The candidates may apply for one or both entries indicating their preference for the two entries in the common application form. In case of candidates giving SSC (T) as their first choice, it will be considered as their only choice. The candidates are advised to check for the availability of vacancies in their respective engineering streams/preferred entry when giving their preferences.
  3. A candidate is also advised to check his given preference for TGC and for SSC(T) in terms of eligibility for the said two courses for age as prescribed in the notification, so that based on his rank in the order of merit, due consideration can be given to his preferences while making appointment to the respective entry, at the time of its commencement.
  4. Documents to be carried to the Selection Centre by the Candidate:-
    • One copy of the Print out of application duly signed and affix with photograph attested by Govt Gazetted Officer.
    • Attested copy of Matriculation or equivalent certificate for age proof. (iii) Attested copy of 12th Class Certificate & Marksheet.
    • Attested copy of Engineering Degree/ Provisional Degree
    • Attested copy of Mark Sheets of all Semesters
    • Certificate form the Principal/Head of the Institution stating that the candidate is in the final year and final exams will be over by 01 Jan 2017 for final year appearing candidates of TGC 124.
    • Equivalence certificate of the concerned university to claim equivalence.
    • All certificates in original. Originals will be returned after verification at the Service Selection Board itself. Any candidate who does not carry these entire documents for the SSB interview, his candidature will be cancelled.
    • The second copy of the printout of online application is to be retained by the candidate for his reference. No need to send any hard copy to DG Recruiting.
    • Candidates must submit only one application. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature.

TGC 124 Merit List

  1. Provisions of preparation of merit list and allotment of entry are as explained in TGC 124 notification.
  2. It is to be noted that mere qualifying at the SSB interview does not confirm final selection.
  3. Higher educational qualifications, previous performances, NCC background, etc, have no role to play in the merit list. Note : The merit list of the recommended candidates for TGC and SSC (T) will be displayed at the reception of DG Rtg and our website i.e. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. after completion of all formalities related to the entries.

First SSB Interview Batch At Selection Centre North (SCN), Kapurthala, Punjab

The selection process of first batch of 80 aspirants to join Armed Forces has commenced on 01 Apr 16, at the newly raised Selection Centre North (SCN), Kapurthala, Punjab . It was inaugurated by Lt Gen KJ Singh, Army Commander ‪Western Command‬ in presence of military and civil dignitaries.

 

The team of officers worked relentlessly and put the centre into operation four months before the target date of 01 Sep 2016. The selection centre consists of two Services Selection Boards which will cater to the candidates from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and even Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian Army Soldiers To Get Bullet-Proof Jackets After 10 Years

Hello Warriors. Ordinary infantry soldiers are still a long way from getting modern assault rifles and light-machine guns, new anti-tank weapons and light-weight ballistic helmets, but they are finally going to get desperately needed bullet-proof jackets after waiting for a decade long.

According to the news reports, the Indian Army desperately needs 3,53,765 new bullet-proof vests; 50,000 of these will be obtained now for which it had signed an “emergency” procurement contract worth Rs 140 crores with Tata Advanced Materials Limited, a subsidiary of the Tata Group.

This came when Manohar Parrikar approved this “interim emergency acquisition” through the “revenue route” soon after he took over as Defence minister in November 2014.

As many as 1.86 lakh jackets were to be supplied to soldiers by 2012 and another 1.67 lakh vests were to be supplied by 2017. None have been acquired till date. Well, giving a new light to the hopes, 50,000 jackets are expected be delivered from August, 2016 onwards and the remaining by jackets by January 2017. However, the procurement is paltry against the 1.18-million strong Army.

The modern light-weight jackets, as per the Army’s new technical specifications, were meant to adequately protect the head, neck, chest, groin and sides of foot-soldiers. They would also allow soldiers to move with greater agility during counter-insurgency operations in difficult “unfriendly” terrain.

The Army’s existing bulky bullet-proof vests – with poor protection – are near the end of their operational life.

The “capital procurement” of 1.86 lakh modular jackets was scrapped in October 2015 because the samples offered by six vendors “failed” to clear field trials.

However, when the samples failed to meet requirements, the Army vice-chief’s existing financial powers were “relaxed as a one-time exception” to ensure the urgent purchase of 50,000 jackets based on older technical specifications.

Now, the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) have introduced a prototype bullet-proof jacket, which also aims to protect against AK-47s and self-loading rifle bullets.

The critical shortage of bullet-proof jackets have attracted criticism from all quarters as people say government is playing with the lives of the soldiers.

Finally, the soldiers will now get some relief. Do our dedicated soldiers really need these jackets when only few of them get to wear those? What do you think about this?
