India Will Have Women Fighter Pilots – Air Force Chief Arup Raha

0
Indian Air Force Women Pilot

India Will Have Women Fighter Pilots – Air Force Chief Arup Raha. India will have women fighter pilots in the near future, Air Force chief Arup Raha has said. The announcement came on Thursday, the 83rd anniversary of the birth of the Indian Air Force. With this, women Air Force pilots would be brought into combat roles for the first time.

Air Chief Marshal Raha reviewed the IAF Day parade and flypast at the Hindon Air Force Station, to the northeast of Delhi. “We have women pilots flying transport aircraft and helicopters. We are now planning to induct them into the fighter stream to meet the aspirations of young women of India,” he said.India till now has not allowed women officers, who have been serving in the armed forces since the early-1990s, to have any combat role. So, while they could fly transport aircraft and helicopters in the Air Force, women pilots could not tear into the skies as fighter pilots.

Women officers in the other two services too have been kept away from combat roles. In the Navy, they cannot serve on warships and in the Army, they cannot join the infantry, armoured corps or artillery.Indian Air Force Women Pilot

With technological advancements making traditional attributes like physical toughness redundant for fighting roles, women officers have been making a push to be allowed to take up an increased role in the armed forces. Also, flying fighters is of a significantly different nature from ground combat roles in close proximity to enemy forces.

A number of women pilots have proven themselves flying helicopters and transport aircraft in high-risk rescue and other missions. Some women pilots have also flown sorties of AN-32 aircraft to the Advanced Landing Ground at Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) in Ladakh. DBO, the world’s highest landing ground at 16,500 feet, is close to the frontline and is a critical supply line to troops posted at the Siachen Glacier.

Women pilots have also proven themselves with the Ilyushin IL-76 hheavy-lift transport aircraft, referred to in the Air Force as ‘Gajraj’, in difficult sorties to Leh.

A major hindrance till now, according to the top military brass, was that it took well over Rs 13 crore to train a single fighter pilot, with the huge investment being recovered over 13-14 years of active flying. Women fighter pilots, it was stressed, may get married, have children, and consequently disrupt the IAF’s tight flying schedules.

But there is a rethink in the IAF now, with women officers also increasingly winning their legal battles for permanent commission in the armed forces, instead of being allowed to serve just 14-15 years as short service commission officers.

This morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted:

The event will begin with a fly past of three Mi-17 V5 helicopters with ensign of the Air Force in a “vic” or V-shaped formation at the air base in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The parade will see Hercules formation comprising three C-130J aircraft in the same formation.Indian Air Force Day 2015

Recommended In 3rd Attempt From 14 SSB Allahabad For TES-33

0
Recommended 14 SSB

Hi everyone! I am Manuj Trivedi from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.I decided to share my SSB experience with you all because it made me learn so many things about myself.I hope whosoever dreams of a life that I dream of, will get help from my experience.I will also write some things that I genuinely feel are necessary.

So, like most of you, I wasn’t a lucky soul to get through ssb in first attempt.I was conference out from Coimbatore in my first attempt and then conference out from Allahabad in second attempt. There was this thought in my mind that ‘Do I have not ‘THAT’ in me?’.This particular thought was put down by my conscience which constantly was saying that, yes! I will get through.

I was always advised to attend coaching but I did things in my own way and never joined any coachings for SSB and I was glad that my decision actually helped me at last. Being conferenced out two times, I was pretty much bored of the process and I told my mother that this time I’ll either get screened out or I’ll come recommended.

So, my journey started. I had to report on 29 April to MCO, Allahabad.I purchased a general ticket from Kanpur Anwarganj to Allahabad and reached Allahabad at 11 p.m on 28th. I stayed in a lodge that night  and I noticed that my body temperature had risen or  I had fever, when I went to sleep.

Next morning, I rushed to the railway station from where we were picked up by a bus and we landed in our so called Rejection center. I remembered my depressed face last time and wondered what was there to happen this time.

Screening

I already had fever so I was standing like the most dull person on Earth who knew about the long formalities and briefing by JCO.Finally, it came to end and we were made to sit in Vikram Batra hall and were given chest numbers.I was chest no -220.It was the time for verbal and non verbal reasoning tests and we were given booklets.I tried my best and I felt that I couldn’t do much but I didn’t care as I was bored of it.Then came our Picture Perception and Description Test and I finished writing a story as soon as I could.Unlike last two times, this time I was having fun with whomsoever I could. We were sitting in the hall laughing and talking and not caring about what was going to happen because I felt this was my key trait.Recommended 14 SSB Allahabad

Soon we were in the GD room which was a room full of chaos, as our group only consisted of repeaters and everyone was eager to put their point.I was at the corner which made the situation even worse for me but I managed to speak ‘one’ time although I felt my narration was good as after the GD  some of boys appreciated my way of speaking.

It was result time and as expected I was screened in among 26 candidates from a total of 282 people. This time I got the chest no 17 which was similar to last time so I looked at it very seriously and wondered it might be lucky this time.We finished the formalities that day and I filled my PIQ.We went to 14 SSB candidate line and I felt ‘Tiger Hill’ was going to get lucky for me.We all were unknown to each other and everyone was tired so no one talked much and we slept.

Psychology

2nd day was all about psychology and being an experienced candidate I was there looking at the same board as last time and wondering what images would flash.I was constantly avoiding fever that I had and it was going worse, however it made me calm I guess. My brain was like an empty vessel  and I had decided I’ll write whatever comes to my mind.TAT began and pictures started flashing, one after the other and so on for 11 times followed by blank picture 12th time and it got over. I wrote reactionary stories mostly depicting my personality in different situations. This test was followed by WAT and SRT.I made sentences of 56 words and provided solution to only 35 situations. The last test called Self Description Test is an important part of psychology and it should match with the stories you wrote in TAT, sentences you wrote in WAT and your reactions to situations in SRT.I never prepare for SDT rather I decide then and there what I have to write and I wrote about who I am, the way I am and my social adaptability and attitude and the tests were over.Coming out of the hall, I realised my knees were week that I wasn’t even able to walk.Somehow I reached candidate line and other candidates saw me lying unconsciously.I was immediately told to go to MI room.Shocking it was, I was put in the truck and taken to MH Allahabad to get admitted due to my condition. I was relieved when they didn’t admit me but told me to take rest and I was taken back.Sir in the MI room told me to go back and I called my mother and her words were “Vapas ni ana hai”!!.She said maybe this is the time you’ll make it and her words actually gave me lot of strength and I decided I’ll not quit.Luckily, I didn’t have personal interview that day.

GTO-1

Although I was low in voice and strength due to last two days but I was high in spirits. We were taken to fields and we were informed that we have to do two successive group discussions first.I tried to put some important points in GD and let the ‘most passionate ones’ speak. After GD, we had GPE and I wrote a good solution although it was not welcomed by everyone and we couldn’t agree. Then we had PGT and HGT which were quite challenging and I kept helping others and thinking about everything I could do to cross obstacles. We performed average and then we had Group Obstacle Race which filled everyone with enthusiasm.I kept helping others and took care of the snake and we ended up at the 2nd postition. We all were tired and it was the time for lecturette task which made everyone nervous. I chose Education System in India and kept defining about education all the three minutes.Way of speaking and confidence counts.

This day was special to me because I made friends there. We were having fun talking about tasks and did a bit of leg pulling, it really helps you in Ssb if you take things not too much seriously and so it helped me.I had interview same day.

Personal Interview

I had not planned what I had to speak, I was just remembering what I wrote in SDT and suddenly my chest no flashed in screen and I went in.President of the board took my interview and he started asking me about my lecturette and seemed pretty impressed when I repeated what I spoke in lecturette. Then there were questions related to best friend, family and personal life. Some capitals to check my general awareness and about ISIS.It lasted for 25 minutes and I could feel that this time I had made it.

GTO-2

Next day we had our individual Obstacle task in which I completed 9  Obstacles. I couldn’t complete my command task as it was really tricky and FGT at the end went good enough. We got back.We had already given up eating in mess so we used to gather in Oliver Green cafe and ate paneer all three days. It brought us close to each other and it helped me to stay calm and give my best.We used to laugh, click photos and enjoy each and every moment.Recommended 14 SSB Allahabad 2

CONFERENCE

Next day it was time for conference. When my turn came up I went inside and president smiled and told me to sit down and began asking about what I will do if I not get recommended, I told him I would concentrate over my career in civil services, to this he said let’s say you do not get successful in that also then what will you do, I replied that I would start teaching. I encountered his questions with one or the other reply and then he said I could leave.I came out and I was feeling it.

Tests were over and so was the SSB.Everyone was predicting about who will get recommended and all.We were sitting there, hearts were beating loud.Officer came and briefed us that he was going to call out the chest number. He said chest no 5 chest no 16 chest no 17 and chest no 21.I stood up,the only thing that made me happy at that time was the thought of my ma and papa.I literally wanted to jump high but we had to stand putting our hands back. That moment is the best moment of my life till now and I couldn’t imagine myself among the recommended candidates.

Merit and Medical

In merit, I got AIR-47 but I ended up getting declared unfit in medical tests so I couldn’t join OTA this time.

My only advice to all the aspiring candidates is not to seek any advice. When you get into SSB,try to stay as calm as you can and the key is to never cram your emotions, be as imaginative and clear as you can ,this can only happen when when you are a happy and a content person. Balance your passion so that you are not totally depent on one thing is life, keeping options is always a good option itself. Be responsible and ready to take up challenges.Recommended 14 SSB Allahabad 3

Obviously, I did not feel good that I had lost such an opportunity after going so far but this is life all about and all we can do is to keep on trying.I can’t get broken and complain about it.Complaining should not be the part of anyone’s attitude towards problems and that is what I want to tell you all.

These things and a positive atitude will help you to unwind this mystery.

BEST OF LUCK !!!

7 Basic Exercises You Must Do Before Joining Indian Military Academy

7 Basic Exercises You Must Do Before Joining Indian Military Academy

It is imperative that Candidates desirous of joining the Indian Military Academy attain a certain degree of physical fitness, which will facilitate their smooth adaptation to the training schedule at the IMA. It has been observed that a majority of the selected candidates, particularly those hailing from urban areas, are in poor physical condition on joining the Academy, as a result of which they find it difficult to cope up with the training routine.
Books For SSB Interview Preparation [ 100% Recommended]

Inadequate physical conditioning also inhibits the GC academic performance. Prospective Candidates are therefore advised to keep themselves in a good physical state, by following the under mentioned regime daily:

7 Basic Exercises You Must Do Before Joining Indian Military Academy

  1. Running (5 kms in 30 minutes): You can begin a running program by walking, or by using a run-walk combination. Walking begins the conditioning process necessary for running, just in a gentler manner. It will stimulate your heart and lungs and begin the process of toughening up muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, joints, and connective tissues. Walk with purpose; you should feel your breathing rate and heart rate increase so you know you are giving a good effort—without feeling uncomfortable.
  2. Skipping (10 to 15 minutes): It is one of the best cardio and HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) workout.  Jumping rope is known to burn around 1300 calories/hour (now that’s high!). That’s an effective way to melt your fat, right?
  3. Push-ups (minimum 30 each):A push-up is a total-body functional movement that is great for increasing strength and has the added benefit of engaging the core and lower body. Since it’s a bodyweight exercise, it can be done just about anywhere—with a ton of variations to liven things up.
  4. Sit-ups (minimum 30 each): Situps are a multi-muscle exercise. While they don’t specifically target stomach fat (Note: neither do crunches!), situps actually work the abdominals as well as other muscles groups, including:
    • chest
    • hip flexors
    • lower back
    • neckOTA Chennai Role Climbing
  5. Chin ups (minimum 08 Nos.): These exercises work your entire upper body, especially the muscles of your back, as well as your abs and your biceps.
  6. Rope Climbing (minimum 3 to 4 meters): Rope climbing is a tremendous grip, biceps, and upper body builder that can benefit powerlifters, football players, strongmen, arm-wrestlers, and Olympic lifters.
  7. Basics of Swimming: Swimming is something you must consider if you going to join any military training academy. If you no experience in swimming you might have a tough time at the academy. However, nonswimmers will be taught swimming at the IMA. One of the biggest benefits of swimming is that it truly works your entire body, head to toe. Swimming:
    • increases your heart rate without stressing your body
    • tones muscles
    • builds strength
    • builds endurance

Why Interviewing Officers Don’t Recommend Candidate Based On Sympathy

3
Why Interviewing Officer Don't Recommend Candidate Based On Sympathy

The rush towards the armed forces in India is still a speedy momentum in the very modern generation. The move increased as a complex of interest into the beauty of olive-green uniform, love for the nation with reputed services in fact as the force of parental keys too.

The life of army men has paved his path with strict disciplinary anthem which is the first to be followed during the entire journey as his attire. Knowingly or unknowingly our youth are much interested in the routine perhaps it’s a proud for us too. But all army wishers, we call them “faujis” are not get cleared in interviews. Some are rejected on the basis of Psychological and Group tasks exercises rest by medical rejections.

Never back down and do not worry: Said by Retd Col Asokan who currently the Managing Director of Olive green Institution Pvt Ltd Chandigarh. He also not forget to share a beautiful thought to the faujis who wish for an entry and unlucky. On behalf of all faujis across the nation we asked a single question.

How cannot an interviewer not feeling a dot of sadness when the many bunches of candidates come for SSB interview?

The reply by Retd. colonel was actually an answer of all questions to our life like a think-tank to be followed.

He says, it’s not just a particular time we felt. We care and love our children who come to us for SSB Interview. We feel sincere guilty and sadness ten times than the candidate because we observe their effort to present them by their dedication and knowledge we unanimously agreed. But as said if we select these candidates on the basis of sympathy not with proper code of conduct. He will be rejected for sure and obviously he/she gets hurt or saddened. Even us too that’s the significant truth. The truth has to be same everywhere that’s how it is relate. Take an instance we take the candidate who doesn’t contribute to the OLQs(Officer like qualities) and we selected with sympathy, tomorrow he is the leader of a team,  the main decision maker takes a team with a mission with his lack of desired inappropriate decision. One of his subordinate injured to death, the leader has to admit its responsibility. Its ok he could take but deceased soldier’s wife will live life as a widower that even can say as ok. But deceased soldiers children. What crime he has done to live like an infant. Who can bear this responsibility? No one. No one can take that responsibility that is the absolute truth in fact. We know the pain of an infant and even though for time being the candidate is rejected they may have an absolute different career to go far forward. But the child has to live like an orphan with a widow mother. Therefore, we never compromise on our decisions in this particular concept. Why Interviewing Officer Don't Recommend Candidate Based On Sympathy

There shows the vital role of an effective decision making in life .Never back down with only defense career. You have to think if rejected, you could be more success in a different career with your role. A great example is our former president Dr.Abdul Kalam Sir; he had chosen to be an air force pilot but reached as the supreme commander of armed forces. Do not worry.

“Canvas of an eye is always repeated

Whether pleasant whether warm it’s repeated

The voice of soldier’s mouth preventing weep

Of a widow by his monumental judgment”

Not A Success Story But SSB Interview A Lesson For Life

2
indian navy ssb interview
  1. TES-30: (24 SSB Bangalore)
  2. 10+2 Cadet Entry:  (NSB Coimbatore) (SATYAM KUMAR – S-47490 )

Here today I’m describing my complete journey of my latest attempt:

NSB at Coimbatore 2014 : Around 120 candidates reported and after documents verification the first test of the day:

Day 1: 10 OCT  After documents verifications, chest no. were allotted to us, MINE WAS 42.

Intelligence Test began: The test was simple, it only required concentration logics and presence of mind.  When test Result of Intelligence test was declared, a total of 26 candidates made to second test of the day:

PP&DT. Picture was shown which had about 4-5 characters , scene of a village and the village was surrounded by water. Well everyone made a common assumption of flood and then the discussion began.

The funniest part in the PPDT test was shared by one of my close friend. In his group instead of having discussion on the story every candidate was much more interested in deciding the number of characters, their age and gender. Much of the time of the group discussion was whiled away and my friend just uttered a sentence at the end “ Let’s come to a conclusion”. This was the only sentence what he told because of which he was screened in  ( According to my friend ).

Everything was done by afternoon. Filling up the forms took the time till late in the evening. We enjoyed a lot in the assessment room.

Day 2: 11 OCT : PSYCHOLOGY TEST:

  • TAT: 11 pictures and a blank picture were flashed on screen for 30 seconds each. For the last slide I Framed a story having Capt. Vikram Batra as my character.
  • WAT:Words  were known to us but due to shortage of time making a positive meaningful sentence was the task. I completed 45/60.
  • SRT:The Srt’s were really interesting. One could easily face these things in real life. I completed 57/60.
  • SD:I had my own preplanned story .

Day 2: After the  Psychology test we all were relieved for the day . We were given the permission to stroll around the city . Coimbatore was a new place for many of us . Thanks to state transport because of which we managed to stroll.

The two famous places we visited was

  1. Brookfield mall
  2. Fun cinema

Day 3: 12 OCT : Personal Interview:

Personal Interview is the main part of analyzing a candidate. I was well prepared for it. I was a bit confident as I covered every aspect. My chest no was 9. I was waiting for my turn to come for the Interview.
One of my close friend was being interviewed at that time.
Interviewer : Analyse yourself and rate accordingly.
Interviewee : Sir I would like to rate myself 6
Interviewer : Why is it so? You have mentioned in your PIQ form that you are a studious person.
Interviewee : Yes sir , but there are candidates who are well equipped with knowledge regarding Geo-Politics in the Barack.
Interviewer : Who?
Interviewee : Sir, chest no 9 who is waiting for his turn. He is going to be interviewed next.
Interviewer : Ok.

His interview got completed and we were given instruction to have the lunch and then report again at the scheduled time . We went to Ante Room to have lunch . I was getting nervous by the time I took Roti and Sabji in my plate my friend came to me and said Bhai be prepared he is going to ask you a hell lot of Questions . I said why is it so ?? Till now no candidate has been asked that much. He said “bhai maine tera naam liya” and he narrated me all the session.

By that time the Instructor came and announced my chest no and asked me to get dressed up and report . I handed my plate to my friend. Got good luck wishes from my friends. The moment I was arranging my certificates I was thinking about the questions what he is gonna ask.

Every step towards the Interview room was like a way to heaven :P.
As soon I entered the room I was shocked the way he welcomed me. He said “Welcome Mr.Satyam Kumar , where were you till now . We are looking for candidates like you” and shooked hands with me .

I was feeling good that ok he is having a good impression on me. Half of my job is done. But that was not something unusual. Later on I came to know that he greeted everyone the same way.

The interview session began. I am going to narrate in the following way :

Interviewer : Have a glass of water
Me : Its fine sir ! I am ok
Interviewer : So, let’s begin the session. Be comfortable.
Me : Sir (with a smile )
Interviewer : What were you feeling / thinking when you were waiting for your turn?
Me : Nothing much sir , there is a fighter plane model in the garden. I was imagining myself to be its fighter pilot . And I was enjoying the cool breeze and the nature.
Interviewer : Here are the rapid-fire questions – Try to answer them in the chronological manner.

Interviewer : You are given a SRT. Suppose you are in a relationship with your girlfriend. And you guys want to marry . But your parents do not agree to your relationship. What will be your course of action?
Me : Sir , My parents are happy when I am happy and this is a hypothetical question. It won’t arise in my practical life . But still if it arises I’ll convince my parents. They won’t disagree.
Interviewer : Ok (with a smile )

Interviewer : Who is your favourite actress?
Me : No one sir, as I don’t watch much of the movies.
Interviewer : your girlfriend?
Me : No sir (with a smile )
Interviewer : Are you a man ?
Me: Yes sir, 100% medically certified
Interviewer : Well  I wish you get recommended from here. We’ll come to know in the medicals ( We both laughed )

Interviewer : You have mentioned in your PIQ form that your passion is to play hockey. Brief me regarding its history.
Me : (Started) Sir, Hockey is not India’s National game.
Interviewer : Is it ?? (He was acting I believe, actually he was judging me whether I know the reason or not ?)
Me: I explained the whole incident. He was impressed.
Interviewer : If by chance you don’t get selected what will you do ??
Me : Sir, I ll take it positively. I ll believe there was something that I lacked and I’ll improve it for the next attempt.
Interviewer : Any questions ??
Me : Sir, Agar select nahi hue to reason please bata dijiye 😛
Interviewer : (With a smile ). We don’t reveal it . You have to analyse yourself and improve it for the next attempt .
Me : Sure Sir !!
Interviewer : Good luck .
Me : Thank you sir . (Left with a smile )

            Day 4: 13 Oct : GTO 1

  • Group Discussion: Two topics one related to Media and another related to Things acting as a barrier in Deveolopment . I gave 4 solid points in both the topics and I listened my group mates very carefully and gave chance to speak others. Optional Topic: I don’t remember (as of now)
  • GPE:This was the most interesting task . As everyone politely gave their points . We came to a common conclusion too. Our GTO was impressed .
  • Lecturette: In my card 4 topics were there:
  1. War (Wright (or) Wrong) to solve a dispute (I choose this topic)
  2. Advertisements

We were made through all the Tasks of command task , progressive task , half group task , group task , Individual Obstacles.

indian navy ssb interview

Day 5:14 Oct : After Completion of 5 day testing, we went inside Conference room one by one. When I was waiting outside conference hall ,   my body was vibrating while I was sitting on the chair. When my turn came to go inside, though I was feeling  bit nervous but I had a smile on my face to show my confidence level. But this didn’t last much . As soon the President asked me to take my place , we were in advance given practice how to be seated in conference hall by the instructor . I didn’t see the placement of chair and didn’t calculated the appropriate distance from me and sat . The chair disbalanced . I said (Oh my god). Rather to adjust myself I was looking at the officers and their expressions . President said might be there some problem in the chair . He said so to make me comfortable . I took my seat .
The only question I was asked by the president was : Any suggestion you would like to give to improve the service provided.
Me : No sir , All the arrangements were absolutely fine sir . I was like ye kya hua “1 min mai hi conference khatam” .

The conference was over. The result was ready. We were waiting for the result in Ante Room . After sometimes, GTO came with result. Before announcing the result, he gave closing address by motivating all the candidates. After completion of it, he started announcing chest no. those who got recommended. Only one candidate was being recommended.

  1. My dear friends SSB is not regarding selecting a person or rejecting someone. Its just whether “The karma , The vacha , The mansa” matches or not . Having OLQ’s is the only way out one can get through . But it doesn’t mean that it has to be learnt or mugging up. Its regarding your natural way of living , your positive thinking that will develop your personality which has to be made over a time not just prior to interview. Please don’t try to mislead or boast about yourself or else they ll screw you up from all the angles . Be practical in your approach. Have a hobby in real not only to fill in your PIQ form .. Hobby is something in which creativity is involved .
  2. Best thing about SSB is that they teach you how to lead a life with confidence keeping the time frame in mind . How to get involved in things and with support of the mates solve a issue. Overall your personality trait is being developed. Even if you don’t get through SSB you learn quite interesting things and brings a change within you and makes you feel special from the res.

My dear friends remember only one thing – BE WHAT YOU ARE TO GET RECOMMENDED.
