AFCAT 2013 Cut Off Marks

afcat 2013 cut off marks

AFCAT 01/2013 written exam was conducted by India Air-Force on 24 Feb 2013, AFCAT 2013 changed few things this time and answers for AFCAT 2013 and AFCAT 2013 cut off will discussed here. The standard of AFCAT written test has improved considerably since last few exams. Cut off marks for AFCAT 2012 was 143 out of 300, lets see what will be the cut off AFCAT 2013.

Again India Air force has raised the standard of AFCAT with the following:

  1. Introducing OMR sheet in AFCAT: Most of you are surprised to see the OMR sheet this time, OMR sheet will certainly helps in keeping the evaluation clean and fair. Cancellation and discrepancy in AFCAT 2 2012 result is one more reason to introduce OMR sheet in AFCAT this time.
  2. Difficulty Level of AFCAT 2013 written: Most of you if not all find the difficulty level increasing with AFCAT, if you compare the first AFCAT 2011 and AFCAT 2013, you will find the change in the pattern of questions and their difficulty level. AFCAT 2013 wasn’t easy this time and you might  have faced some questions of new pattern, verbal and non verbal sections wasn’t easy, paper was lengthy specially with the Maths. Military turpitude was easy this time. Overall, it was good for one who has prepared for it.
  3. No change of answers: Unlike last time, this time you can’t change the answers once marked. This is because of use of OMR sheet which doesn’t allow you to do so. This could be a disadvantage for candidates but little alertness can avoid this issue.
If we consider the difficulty level of questions this time, in 01/2013 AFCAT , cut off marks might fall near 140- 155, or 55-60 correct questions might be a safer side for you, guessing answers and negative marking scheme can do the damage but hope you have avoided the more of guessing in questions and kept the negative marking in mind.

But rest depends on the IAF, how much intake they want from this AFCAT 2013, you can check the cut off marks of AFCAT 2012 to get an idea.

tgc 117 eligible branches

TGC-117 course is a technical entry course in the Indian army for technical graduates. One going through TGC entry may join Indian Military Academy for one year training course and get permanent commission in Indian army. Tech graduates are assigned with technical field in Indian army after they get commissioned through successful one year training at IMA Dehradun.

TGC-118 Notification Indian Army 2013

Recently joinindianarmy published the allotment center and dates of TGC-117, soon more list will be coming for all the SSB. For more info check the links below:

Now the big questions is, are IT, EEE and other few branches are eligible for TGC-117, which are/were eligible for SSC-40 and SSC-41 ? TGC-117 advertisement doesn’t notify any of these branches and this is the first time when TGC excluded branch like EEE etc. But, recently army included IT, EEE and few more branches in SSC-40 and SSC-11 including IT, EEE etc. We all know that SSC-tech and TGC are almost same so there is no point in keeping a different eligibility criteria.

Yet the picture is not clear but the call letter received by few candidates for SSB Bangalore clearly mentions that only notified branches are eligible, and nothing mentioned about equivalency certificate.

Eligible branches in TGC-117 as per revised call letter*:

All aspirants must know that there are three different sections/papers in CDSE viz English, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics. CDSE is conducted by UPSC twice every year. When comparing CDS 2 2013 from last CDS 2 2012, it was little tougher and also the format of questions has changed in few, this time GK was the toughest in all the three sections.

English: Few might have noticed that the format has changed for few questions, specially synonyms and antonyms were asked differently and was little difficult this time. Overall, paper was quite easier this time, specially the comprehension passages were quite easier like last time.
GK: This section is usually tough, but this time it was more tougher, more general questions based on current affairs, polity, history, surprisingly not much was asked from defence sector like earlier. Overall GK was tough so nothing new in it.
Maths: Easy like always, good options for scoring more marks through maths, more trigonometry and arithmetic was asked this time.
Overall the paper was moderate and cdse 2013 cut off may go up to 140 Marks for AFA, 125 marks for IMA,  90 for OTA and 115 for NA. Lets wait for the CDS 2 2012 answers key to come up from The Cavalier Coaching Institute for  CDS-1 answer sheet 2013 and CDS 1 2013 cut off.

The Magic of the Hills at Dehradun

13

1 afsb dehradun

The crowded roads passing through serene surroundings led me to the juncture of plains and hills. The approaching hills at Dehradun were beautiful as always but  this time their beauty enchanted me all the more as I was at my dream place to accomplish the dream I nurtured through years.. TO FLY FOR THE INDIAN AIR FORCE . This chance meant a lot more than my life to me as this was my last year of eligibility for flying.

AFSB interview experience

The lot was received at the Railway station Dehradun and we proceeded towards the centre . Gradually from the hush-bush and colours of the city things became calm and blue . The colour transferred all its energy to me and I was geared up for the process.
It was a gathering of around 160 girls which were divided as “freshers” and “repeaters”. The screening was conducted in two stages- officers intelligence rating test (OIR) and the picture perception and discussion test (PP & DT). My group was of 10 girls and I could comfortably make a story and discuss it in the group.Though the group could not arrive at a common story the testing officers still looked pleasently convinced. Three hours of repeated self assesment paved way to the results . My chest number was called out and I was elated . A total of 87 girls were screened in and I was glad that I made it 🙂

The next three days were  beautiful and full of enthusiasm and  self confidence. My group mates were a bliss. It seemed as if we all were destined to meet through this SSB. The members were in complete harmony with each other imparting confidence to the group.Since the group was peaceful and we understood each other well we did not face any difficulty in the GTO tasks . Every member was given an opportunity and the group made a good use of the understanding it shared . I personally feel that I could not perform to the best of my abilities in the Progressive Group Task (PGT) and the half Group Task (HGT) but it was covered in the Command task (CT).

After the GTO  tasks it was the turn of the interviews. I was interviewed by the Vice president of the board .Tthe interview lasted around 40 minutes in which the discussion revolved around my personal life and my achievements. The questions ranged from  the meaning of my  name and its significance to what I have achieved personally and professionally, my hobbies and my interests and my relationship status.  It was a very pleasant experience and I was confident . The confidence came from the fact that whatever I spoke was the truth and the personality that was being portrayed in front of the interviewer  was ME .I did not try to manipulate things at all.

Amidst all the testing we strolled around Dehradun and had a lot of fun . From the Mindrolling temple to the stroll at the clocktower  it was a cherished experience. The fun brought the group close to each other  and memories that last forever.

Finally , it was the day of the conference. The thought of 20 officers in uniform sitting on a round table started haunting me right from the morning . As more and more candidates got over with their conference procedure the number of glim faces increased . This made me all the more tensed. But gathering all the courage and confidence I had for the last time I stepped into the conference hall as my chest number  was called. My conference lasted not even a complete minute and I had a breath of relief.
But as soon as I came out the ension mounted as it was the time for results now . I knew it was now or never  for me as this was my last chance to appear for flying . At around  4:30 in the evening our DSO sir came up with the results . I was stunned as he called out my chest number : “37”. I could not believe my ears but then something in me said  “well done”  . It was the hour of tears, hugs, laughters ,shrill shouts that called victory and a lot more .. To top it all a sense of relief. I called my dear ones to let them know the result but I knew my job was not over yet. I had to appear for the Pilot Aptitude and Battery Test (PABT) the next morning. All the form filling procedures was done and we were reverted back to our rooms.
The dawn broke but I did not feel as confident as I was throughout my SSB . But I knew this was the only chance I had to capture a dream I had nurtured through years . 4 girls had applied for flying. We were taught the basics of flying and were given the Instrument Battery test (INSB). All the four girls cleared it . Next was the major Machine Test .Only two out of the four of us cleared it . It could not believe it when the officer did not call out my chest number. It was a dream shattered. And this is something which cannot be achieved now … anywhere in the defence. Saying goodbye to the dreams of flying transporters and helicopters  I had to settle with technical and ground duty branches.
The experience of Dehradun is special in its own terms as this was my first SSB and I found a group of very elite people. The girls in my group were selfless and proved to be friends. Moreover nothing can beat getting recommended from the hills and when they are as special as DEHRA’s. This place has a magic of its own. Descending from the hills to the plains (for my home in Delhi) all I could say to myself was “1 AFSB DEHRADUN RECOMMENDED” .. but not flying ! .. (sigh) ..
Eagerly waiting for the merit list !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There we were welcomed by a JCO who explained us  the whole process the total reporting was 160 and I was allotted chest no 59 and we filled the PIQ,TA and other forms then we went to 24 ssb line. In night I was thinking about the screening  and just remined some good memories with families and friends and went to sleep.

In the month of july due to sudden floods in son river the condition of that area became worst and sohan with his friends decide to help the peoples so he made a team with his friends and made some rafts with the available resources and evacuated the peoples to the safer place and arranged food and medicines for them. His step was appreciated by the state govt. Then we wait for about 1 hr for the description test and we were called in a hall where 3 peoples were sitting and they gave all the necessary instruction to us then we started narration when it was my turn I was very nervous and my hands was shivering but I decided to do it and I control my breath and went with the flow my narration was good as told by the other group members then in group discussion I speak only 1 time and it was hardly went for 1 minute as one of them said pls stand up and there is a gate on my right hand side just gate out.
