Cardinal Tips For SSB Interview Preparation

0
Cardinal Tips For SSB Interview Preparation

My warmest regards to all the ardent lovers of our website. Indeed, it takes a resolve of steel to continue despite untoward circumstances. As we have already underlined the need of early as well as continuous preparation for the SSB interview, we would like to propound certain essential points which must be kept in mind while preparing for the same.

Cardinal Tips For SSB Interview Preparation

  • Early Bird is always the winner. The more you procrastinate, the more anxious you become during Cardinal Tips For SSB Interview Preparationyour actual interview. I know it is not easy to keep preparing without knowing when to appear for the interview, but that is the way things work as far as SSB is concerned.
  • You must realize that OLQs (Officer like Qualities) cannot be inculcated overnight. If you naturally have adequate OLQs, fair enough, otherwise a diligent and concentrated effort is required to sail through the SSB. Therefore, it’s time to correct the tiny little kinks in your personality step by step. Believe you me, the results would be ambrosial!!
  • Grasp the motive behind the three-pronged testing approach. You cannot merely lie in one aspect and portray your original self in the other. The SSB testing is a lot different from the others. Mugging up, cramming pre-written ideas will only make you sit in the truck that drops you back to the railway station.
  • Acquire Self-Knowledge. An article written about the same will help you explore various facets of your own personality. It is indeed an onerous task to dig out your original self, but unless you do that, you won’t be able to find the areas in which you require improvement.
  • Knowing your Strengths and Weaknesses is half the battle won. Everybody is blessed in a special way and everyone requires a little push in some aspects. Take the help of your surroundings to identify them. Remember, one should also not take his strengths for granted and weaknesses as immutable. Change is the law of nature. There is nothing that an ordinary human with an extraordinary effort can’t do.
  • Having knowledge about recent national and international happenings and issues is a prerequisite. You can follow prominent magazines and newspapers for the same. Believe me, these issues look byzantine but are really facile to understand.
  • Having Immaculate Written and Verbal Expression is one thing which you cannot shirk away from. You may practice delivering lectures to your friends and family. Mirror practice is like bliss. You may also try writing summaries of things which you read or heard in your own words. Look, there is no easy way out in this aspect.
  • Just come out of your meek and self-effacing personality. You don’t have to think too much before expressing your views. Be confident. Talk to your friends and family effusively, take stances, and take decisions. This will not only boost up your confidence but also help you to get rid of your nerves during the SSB interview. Unless you express yourself comprehensively, no one will ever come to know your real self.
  • Spare Time for your Hobbies. This will not only make you feel gruntled but also boost your self-esteem. Even the assessors have a respect for people who respect their hobbies. No hobby is superior or inferior. Have no qualms to mention your Hobbies in PIQ form.
  • Last but not the least, Please Do not Complicate Things. Take one thing at a time. You cannot suddenly change your whole self. Keep taking those pigmy steps in the right direction and success will embrace you like long lost love!!!

Well, this was it about the SSB preparation. I hope you have enjoyed this article. Please comment on whatever you feel like. Till then keep playing, keep trying. JAI HIND!

Back To The Basics: Group Obstacle Race (Snake Race)

0
snake race group obstacle race

Group Obstacle Race (Snake Race) is another fun and interesting part of the GTO task series. In Group Obstacle Race task 3-4 groups are made to compete against each other. The coordination, cooperation and team spirit of the individuals are determined using Group Obstacle Race task. It is a very high spirited task which pushes the adrenalin levels of the group.

Group Obstacle Race – PROCEDURE

  • The senior most GTO explains the rules of the task and the nature of the obstacles to all the groups.snake race group obstacle race
  • A dummy snake is given to each group which they have to carry with them all the time during the race.
  • The whole group is required to run together with the snake. Individual running is prohibited.
  • The colour rule of the PGT also applies here. The snake should not touch the ground and should be held by at least 3 group members when they are on an obstacle.
  • Otherwise the whole group must hold the snake when approaching one obstacle from another.
  • Each group is required to have a war cry for example “BHARAT MATA KI JAY”, “CHAK DE” etc.
  • The group must shout the war cry loudly in order to motivate its group members and also to spook the rival group.
  • A penalty in the form of time is imposed by the GTO if the group is found to break any rule.
  • The group which finishes first after bearing the time penalties (if any) is declared the winner.

Group Obstacle Race – KEY POINTS

  • It is a test of cooperation and team spirit. Therefore, it is requested that you do not show any selfish motive at any point of the race.
  • Though it is a race, you must not leave your group members behind to win the race.
  • Be careful with all the rules of the task and if you have broken any rule, admit it honestly.
  • Be genuinely helpful towards your group members, do not get into squabbles with them.
  • Please shun this dogma of showing your helping nature to the GTO overtly.
  • Forget that there is any GTO checking your performance. It is really fatuous and flippant of the candidates to help others just for getting some points by the GTO.
  • The GTO is very experienced; do not look at him during the task. He is noticing everybody though he is appearing not to.
  • Motivate the group when required. Please do not listen to the people who tell you to shout the WAR CRY incessantly. It will only make your throat go sore, nothing else.
  • Remember, only genuine and veritable efforts will be rewarded, even a pang of selfish motive will get into the eye of GTO.
  • Do the task as a normal routine activity, extra pressure will only make things worse.

Back To The Basics: Progressive Group Task (PGT)

0
Progressive Group Task PGT

The Progressive Group Task (PGT) is the kernel of the GTO task series. Though it is a fun task, it is also very tricky and cumbersome at the same time. This simple task brings out a number of key qualities which are lying dormant inside the individual.

Therefore, a lot of diligence is required at the part of the candidate while going about this task. We will try to explain the whole PGT procedure and also give some pivotal tips in this article.

These group exercises have been designed to test the candidate’s ability to work in a team and tackle problems of a practical nature. These are leaderless group exercises which have to be tackled with the help of the group members and some helping material.

The entire group is required to work with the spirit of cooperation. However, the candidates must remember that these exercises have a number of solutions and those having average intelligence can handle these provided they think coolly.

Progressive Group Task – PROCEDURE

Basically the PGT are a series of tasks which are progressively made more difficult, starting with an easy task and finishing with the most difficult one. Generally, the whole exercise takes 40-45 minutes.

  • The GTO explains to the candidates that they have to carry a load with supporting material from the start line to the finish line. He will evince those lines.
  • He will tell you what material or structures are not to be touched, and which areas are ‘out of bounds’.
  • He gives the helping materials i.e. wooden plank (phatta), pole (balli) and ropes which are to be used to cross the obstacles.
  • Then he explains the other rules which are to be followed during the obstacles.
  • Having explained all the rules, he asks for any doubts which candidates might have.
  • Now, he leaves the group on its own to do its tasks. Once the first obstacle is crossed, the GTO will take you to the next obstacle which will naturally be tougher than the earlier one.
  • Similarly, he takes the group to next set of obstacles and then he congratulates the group for the completion of the obstacles.

Progressive Group Task – RULES TO BE FOLLOWED

  • Colour rule: The structures are painted in different colours Red, Blue and White.
    • White: – Both the candidates and helping material can touch.
    • Blue: – Only candidates can touch, helping material cannot.
    • Red: – Out of bounds for both candidates and the helping material.
  • The areas in the PGT like the mud surfaces and red coloured structures are out of bounds.
  • Rigidity rule: This rule states that no two rigid helping materials can be tied together. Instead the helping material can be tied with the structures.
  • Rule of Infinity: This states that the start and the finish line of the obstacle extend till infinity. The group cannot cross these lines directly.
  • Distance rule: It states that no distance greater than four feet can be jumped. The gap more than four feet has to be bridged using the helping material.
  • Group and Load Rule: The entire group along with the last person, helping material and load must move ahead together at any point of time through the entire course of the PGT.

Progressive Group Task – POINTS TO REMEMBER

  • Listen to the GTO very carefully with your ears and mind widely open throughout the entire exercise. He will give you certain suggestions and tips indirectly, so be very astute in catching them.
  • Please do not break any rule. It is the bread and butter of the GTO to conduct these tasks. So, just obliterate the belief that you can befuddle the GTO.
  • Observe the structures very carefully, the solutions are very simple and require basic common sense.
  • Principle of cantilever or fulcrum can be used during the tasks.
  • If you are unable to give ideas, contribute by cheering up the group members and cooperating with them.
  • There are generally three solutions to every obstacle. Keep this in mind.
  • Take the plunge, initiate, go ahead and take the risk. No point in playing the second fiddle to the group members.
  • Never let stress crumble you. Keep your focus and composure intact throughout the entire GTO exercise.
  • If you have unwittingly broken any rule, have the temerity to acknowledge it.

Well, this was all about the progressive group task. All your suggestions and doubts are welcome. Kindly comment in the comment box below if you have anything to say. Till then, keep it going, let it happen!!

1
Why To Join The Armed Forces

Ever wondered? Why don’t professions like engineering, medical, law, arts, media, management etc excite you enough? When rest of the world is vying for cushy and comfy jobs what has happened to you? Well this might be the question which people of your surroundings may be asking you. Don’t worry you are not alone, there many of us who are bitten by the same bug, the bug of serving the country in uniform. Well, we tried to go deep into the dominant factor which drives you to be a part of the forces, the results of which are illustrated in the article below.

  • What would you call it when people leave IITs to enter the battleground?
  • Why do some women don’t prefer to get married in a well off family and lead a comfortable life?
  • How come some brooding youngsters prefer joining NDA rather than reveling in their parent’s money?
  • Why do some people just cannot sit back and accept their defeat?

Why To Join The Armed Forces

  1. NATION AND NOTHING ELSE : Yes, Bhagat Singh still lives in the heart of many and people in the Why To Join The Armed Forcesarmed forces just testify this fact every day. Words like “,Desh Hi Meri Mehbooba Hai” seem true on these individuals. It is the love and reverence for the national flag which drives these people to join the forces. It is because of these people that Indian Armed Forces have a special place in hearts of fellow countrymen.
  1. THE CHARM OF THE UNIFORM : Yes, it is indeed true that uniform transforms your personality left right and centre. There is a saying that “Those in uniform are real men, others are just plain males”. Nothing gives you greater satisfaction than seeing yourself in the mirror in the uniform.

When your mom says “, my girl is a Flying Officer in the Air force” she relives her youth along with you. When just about anybody asserts “, look there. The person in the resplendent white uniform is a Naval Officer” a sense of self pride overwhelms you. Well, this is the effect which no other career option will produce, no matter how much ever you earn; there are some things that money can never buy.
  1. REMUNERATION AND JOB SECURITY : Now needless to say, given the volatile nature of markets these days, even the CEO of a million dollar company is under the constant threat of losing his job. A Gentleman once said”, when you join the armed forces, you get married to the armed forces.” The armed forces treat its men with utmost delicacy. Once you are in the forces there is no looking back. You can be rest assured of your job and pay scale.

Earth Day: A Day for All

0
earth day

Celebrated on 22nd April, from 1970 onwards, Earth Day is a day on which events are held worldwide in support of Environment Protection. It was first held in 1970 and is now celebrated worldwide in almost 192 countries, co-ordinated by Earth Day Network. In India too, with the awareness level being raised amongst the people, a lot of us have started Earth Day Celebrations. Many events are held which help in rising up the awareness level, like different extracurricular events being held with the theme of environment, tree planting events being held and rallies and conferences. Earth Day is an event for us all, because we all need the environment and its resources to survive. And no matter how cliché it may sound, but our future generations need it too. So it is like a duty for us, for being the inhabitants of this earth, to protect it and make it a better place to live.

Earth Day: A Day for All

Let us not make the things we learn on this day as an affair for a single day, instead let us turn it into earth daysomething we do every day. Let us take some pledges on this day and hope to continue it for the rest of the year and further.

  • Make sure to switch of the lights/fans/AC when you leave a room.
  • Whenever you see taps on the station or public places open, and water being wasted, try to turn it off.
  • Switch off the water from the tap while you are brushing your teeth or once the water in the bucket is full. On a similar line do not let your water tank overflow; get sensors for it (they do not cost much).
  • Throw waste only in dustbins. If you don’t spot one, carry the waste with you till you find one.
  • If you see people throwing away litter, on the streets or in any place other than dustbin, politely interrupt and let them know that they need to throw it in dustbins.
  • Unnecessary honking in traffic jams helps no-one.
  • Follow traffic rules.
  • Do not throw food in water bodies.
  • Take as much as you can eat. Do not waste food.
  • You might love the comfort of your car but travel in public vehicles as much as possible. Walk for short distances instead of taking out your bike.
  • Pay your water bill and electricity bill wisely.

Happy Earth Day. Love Environment, Love yourself.
