NDA Study Plan

Step 1: Introspect

Yes, this is the first step you are going to start with. Introspect where you stand, how much do you know, are you capable enough, do you need more practice, all these questions, you ask to yourself. The best way to do this is to pull out a previous year paper and solve it. The marks you score in this paper are the marks that you will be scoring in the upcoming exam without preparation.

Step 2: Gather syllabus, books and other materials

Collect all the previously asked papers, it is going to be very useful. Apart from this, keep NCERT text books in your proximity while preparing. The best all in one book to prepare for NDA written is Pathfinder by Arihant. You may try other books too or you may have your own preference, but make sure you take a book which has the complete NDA syllabus in it.

Step 3: Identify your weak areas

Now that you have completed your introspection by solving previous papers, identify areas and topics in which you are weak in. Make a list of all the topics in which you lag, ranking from weakest to weaker topic.

Step 4: Identify your strong areas

Just like you identify weak areas, also identify and make note of topics in which you scored well and are strong in. This will help you in making a proper study plan. Rank these topics from strongest to stronger.

Step 5: Make a study plan

Now, this is dependent on a candidate and depends on how he wants to study for it. If you are a person who is not motivated enough, then you may start with strong areas and gradually move on to the weak areas. Start from the strongest areas and try to complete it within a week of time and gradually start preparing topics from the bottom list of the weak areas. Otherwise, if you are a motivated candidate then, you start with the weakest topics and gradually move on to the topics which are stronger.

Step 6: Set a timetable and space

Allocate your 10-12 hours of the day to NDA preparations. Also, set a space for you to study and utilize this space only to study. Nothing else. This will automatically give you the feel to study whenever you sit in that space.

Step 7: Improve Your English and GK

Best way? One word – newspaper. Period.

Step 8: Give yourself a deadline

For every topic you prepare, allocate a deadline for that topic and try to complete it within that deadline. Naturally, weakest topics should be given more time and strongest topics should be given least time. Also, keep two weeks prior to the exam only for the purpose of revising.

Step 9: Get sleep, exercise, and proper diet

When you are not studying for 10-12 hours, utilize the rest of the time to play, exercise and do some physical activity. This will clear your mind and will help you study better. Also, get sleep of minimum 6 hours daily.

Indian Army Defence Cyber Academy Coming Soon

Indian Army Defence Cyber Academy Coming Soon

Source: OneIndia:The Indian military is all set to get a new body which would tackle cyber warfare. IT would comprise around 1,000 personnel drawn from all three wings of the military.

The Defence Cyber Academy would defend military assets and also use its capabilities to fight proxy cyber warfare.

It may be recalled that Army chief Gen. Bipin Rawat stressed on exploiting cyber space for advantage of defence forces, saying the “tech-savvy” terrorists operating from across the borders are using it for their benefit and if the armed forces don’t stay ahead of them, they may never be able overcome terrorism.

The Army Chief said the cyber space is important not only in conventional warfare, but is equally relevant in the sub-conventional warfare or proxy war.

“We must also develop niche capabilities to disable the adversaries’ system. Today, the terrorists operating against us from across the borders are very tech-savvy. They are exploiting cyber space for their advantage. If we don’t stay ahead of them, we will never be able to get over the phenomena of terrorism,” Rawat said.Defence Cyber Academy

He also noted that China is ramping up its capabilities in the cyber warfare.

Addressing the conference, Lt Gen Satish Dua, who is the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC), said there was a need to tweak the defence strategy and factor in cyber threat.

“Radicalisation is the most potent by-product of cyber warfare. Terrorist organisations have moved their propaganda online,” Dua said.

Citing an example of Burhan Wani, whose killing in an encounter with the security forces in July 2016 led to an unrest in the Kashmir Valley, Dua said the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, was a creation of social media.

The 22-year-old Wani was a poster boy for militancy in the Valley.

“To overcome other inadequacies, they used this system (cyber space) very nicely. Social media was used to build a Robinhood kind of image of Burhan Wani and eventually when he was eliminated, we saw the kind of unrest in Kashmir, in the Valley…. (it) was unprecedented a couple of years ago. And all started with this creation of social media,” Dua said. Prior to his current posting, Dua was General Officer Commanding of the Army’s strategic Chinar Corps (15 Corps) responsible for guarding the Line of Control in Kashmir.

The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academies for further pre-commissioning training.

Applicants to the NDA are selected via a written exam conducted by the UPSC, followed by extensive interviews by the SSB covering general aptitude, psychological testing, team skills as well as physical and social skills, along with medical tests. Incoming classes are accepted twice a year for semesters starting in July and January. About 4,50,000 applicants sit for each written exam. Typically, about 6,300 of these are invited to interview. Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for NDA & NA Examination. The minimum age should be 16 and half years and maximum age should be 19 and half years. Applicants to join the Air Force also go through a Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. About 320 cadets are accepted to the academy each semester. About 70 cadets are accepted for the Air Force, 42 for the Navy and 208 for the Army.

Cadets who are accepted and successfully complete the program are sent to their respective training academies for one year of training before granting of commission: army cadets go to Indian Military Academy(IMA) at Dehradun, Air Force cadets to Air Force Academy(AFA) at Dundigal, Hyderabad, and naval cadets to Indian Naval Academy(INA), Ezhimala, Kerala.
