I am Sai Bhargav from Hyderabad and got recommended for Indian Army through CDS Direct Entry from 17 SSB Bangalore. Whenever I read a success story I always wanted to write my story and today the time has come. Reading success stories motivated me to never give up. SSBCrack gave me a fair opportunity to understand the SSB process. I had read the articles on SSB crack to motivate myself. This is my 2nd attempt and in my first attempt, I got screened out in 33 SSB BHOPAL. After that, I really worked hard. My dream was never to get screened in but to get recommended in the next attempt itself.
I understood that my communication was not good. For 1 month I read the Hindu newspaper editorial aloud and noted down all the words which I was not familiar with. I started studying GK topics and practiced SRT and WAT many times to improve my speed. I started introspecting myself, asked my friends about my positives and negatives. I always noted down everything in a notebook about my mistakes and tried to improve them.
I reported on July 21 to center and had PPDT the next day. I wrote a story on a village reporting the problems of their village to their MLA. My story was completely different from all other stories in our group. But I narrated my story with full confidence, in the discussion I completely agreed to my group story based on problems of fisherman and I added my points to the discussion. It was a very healthy discussion and I enjoyed being a part of it. I was very confident about screening and six out of eleven from our group got screened in. It was my first step towards my dream.
Next day we had psych test. In TAT I wrote very simple and practical stories with clear details. For the 12th picture, I wrote how I worked hard to get an admission in NIT Calicut. In WAT I wrote all 60 sentences which relate me. In SRT I wrote 45 with detailed solutions. In SD I wrote the same things which my friends told me. After psych test, I was very confident that I did well. After that, we had a lunch.
Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)
I was not prepared for my interview but I got a call on the same day that I had the interview. IO asked my name as it was very long. I told TIPRISHETTI SAI BHARGAV VARMA. He asked me many questions about myself and I answered all of them. As I am a mechanical engineer he asked me few technical questions, among I answered only one and said I was not good in technical. I told my favorite subject as mathematics, he asked me many questions in Mathematics like what was the formula of compound interest and what if it was compounded Quarterly. I answered all mathematics questions. In GK he asked me about north eastern states, Issues between India and China, Kaveri water issue and South China sea dispute. I answered all those. In the interview, I said some wrong answers for army day, where did Naxalism start. He asked me to answer in two sentences why I would like to join the army. I said I want to live after my death. He asked me to elaborate then I said if I die in an accident or some other way my family would cry for me for 1 or 2 years later forget me but if I die in a war my whole region remember me for a long time. My second reason was I want to inspire people around me to take up this profession as there were no people serving in the army in our region. He asked me many personal questions and I answered them all. He asked me alternate career options I said that I had been preparing for SSC CGL and attempted SSC CPO.I was not comfortable with rapid fire questions but somehow answered them. Before leaving he asked me who was the financial, defense and home ministers. I answered them with a smile on my face. He wished me all the best and left the hall. I was shattered after the interview as I had a mixed feeling about the interview. But I motivated me to perform to my best in GTO.
The best part of SSB was GTO I really enjoyed it. On GTO 1 we had two group discussions which went well. All of us spoke well and had a healthy discussion. I initiated one of the GD’s. After that, we had GPE, in which I did a blunder mistake. I mistook 15 cm as 1.5 km when the scale was 1 cm =1 km and wrote my story according to it. In the discussion, we were contradicting on group plan GTO said last one min. I asked chest no 1 to give the plan and told others to add points to that. I nominated him to tell the plan to GTO. The best part in my SSB was Snake race, I really enjoyed it. In between, I climbed both the walls of my own and helped my group to climb. At last, we were winners of snake race. In PGT we did 3 obstacles I gave good suggestions and whenever there was some risk I went there and did it. Our HGT and FGT were easy. I went to visit HAL Museum in Bengaluru after my GTO.
I did 11 individual obstacles, I was unhappy about it. I fell down 2 times in between from balancing beam, because of that I couldn’t do more. I spoke very confidently for 3 min on sustainable development in LECURETTE. In command task, I got a bit tricky obstacle but I completed it in 5 min.GTO asked me why I would like to join forces. I said the same thing that I want to live after my death. He said it was a noble reason to join forces. After all, GTO gave a wonderful lecture about life for 40 min and wished us all the very best. After GTO, I went to the library to find out answers for which I couldn’t answer in the interview. I prepared my things for around 3 hours for my conference.
In my conference, they asked me four questions-what is your name, what all places I have visited in Banglore, what I have learned here in 5 days, Is there any suggestions for them. I answered all of them. Vice president said that’s it Sai Bhargav. I said thank you, sir and left the conference hall.
I was eagerly waiting for the result. Many things were running in my brain. While announcing results I closed my eyes for few seconds and said to God “If I am fit for this profession to give me this.” Second chest number 07 called was mine. I didn’t know what was happening there. I couldn’t see who were the others for some time. I got emotional and tears rolled down my eyes. I felt very bad for my friends who were not recommended. For 15 min I couldn’t understand what was happening there and everything got changed. I wish all the best for all aspirants.

Hey folks! My name is Osheen Guleria and I am 20 years old. I got recommended from 21SSB, Bhopal as a CDS entry for the course SSCW(NT)-20 this year in the month of June. I have completed my graduation in B.A. (English Honors). While scrolling through my feed, it was usual for me to read through success stories of the people who made it through the SSB. It was always overwhelming and inspiring to read them and learn from them. When I cleared the SSB myself, I wished to pen down my experience so that it helps other aspirants too. So, here I take this privilege to tell you about my experience at the SSB.
I come from a defense background, hence, it was always in the back of my head to see myself in the uniform like I saw dad marching ahead in glory. The zeal and enthusiasm knew no bounds every time I saw my dad deck up smartly in the morning in his uniform to step out for the day. The sense of pride and honor goes to an altogether different level when you reach an inch closer to standing next to your father decked up that smartly. So, the passion towards the armed forces has been inherent and innate in me. I became eligible to appear for the CDS exam last year during my last year of graduation. I took my written exam as soon as I became eligible and cleared it in the same go. I received my call letter for the SSB in the month of April which was supposed to be held from 20-24 June,17. I was all excited yet anxious to take up this altogether different experience. I confronted my father regarding the same who calmed me down and gave me his peace of mind.
We had to report at the Bhopal Junction at 14:00 hours on the 19th of June as I did. When we assembled at the railway station for the vehicles to pick us up, I guessed the strength of the lady candidates to be around 120. I was a little worried about the procedure but only came up to realize that panic wouldn’t do me any good. I talked to other girls around before we were finally picked up for the Selection Center. We reached the selection center and pulled down our luggage. We were asked to keep our luggage in the rooms in the candidate lines and come down with our documents for the document check. The freshers, repeaters, people previously screened out recommended were separated and made to sit. We were given our chest numbers, mine being the chest number-50 for the first stage of testing that would begin the next morning. Our document check finished around 8:30 after which we were asked to take our dinner and move to our rooms.
The next morning we were asked to have our breakfast and report by 6 for Stage I testing (OIR+PPDT). I attempted a fair number of questions(around 90%) in both my verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests of the OIR. For the PPDT, I made a fairly usual story, narrated it well and participated in the discussion that took place later. Post the Stage I testing was over, we were asked to leave and wait till the results were finally compiled. The final results of Stage I testing were declared around 15:00 hours, post which the candidates who were screened out left. I was happy when chest number- 50 was called out. I stepped ahead, took off my old chest number and wore the new one which was assigned to us for Stage II testing (Chest number-07). A total of 36 lady candidates were selected out of 110 candidates who had reported. We were now given rooms according to our chest numbers and our phones were taken away. We were given PIQ forms to fill up by the evening. There was an IT Cell from where we could ring people and use the internet. Sports facility was also provided to us. Since, the phones were taken away and lights went off at 10, we talked a lot with each other and slept in time.
Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)
On the morning of 20th June, we had our first set of tests to take which was the Psychological tests. In the TAT, I wrote all the twelve stories. In the WAT too, I completed writing all pithy and concise sentences with whatever came to my mind after I saw the word. In the SRT, I wrote 55 out of a total of 60 keeping in mind as to what would I exactly do in a given situation and I completed my SD too well in time. The first set of tests were done well according to me and so, I was contented. The next morning saw us all decked up in sparkling white for the GTO’s series of tasks. 36 of us were divided into four groups of nine each and assigned a GTO. All the groups had a mix of candidates from freshers to previously recommended ones to display parity and give an equal chance to everyone. The first task we did was the Snake race followed by the GD, GPE, PGT, HGT and the Lecturette. Post these six tasks we were sent back for the day. I participated fairly well in both the GDs, pulled a lot of people across the walls in the snake race, gave some inputs in the GPE, spoke a on the topic of ‘Cyber Hacking’ and gave suggestions to tackle obstacles in the PGT and HGT. The next day we faced our final three tasks of the nine in the GTO series which were IO, FGT and Command task. My GTO interacted a little with me regarding my name, its meaning, my education, family etc. I did 7 of the 8 individual obstacles, tackled my Command task too. FGT was done fairly well. Post our GTO tasks, I faced my interview as soon as I reached back. My interview was taken by the deputy president of the board who asked me questions ranging from my personal life to some current events and technical questions. I was just myself and answered all the questions to my fullest capacity. I was not fully but only partially contented with my interview when I stepped out. It lasted for 40-50 minutes easily.
On the final day, we had our conference to face and all of us were pretty anxious. I crossed my fingers and the conference began from the last chest number. When my number came, I waited for roughly 5-10 minutes before entering the room. In the Conference room, I was given an SRT to answer and asked general questions about my performance, my stay at the Selection Center Central and any suggestions for improvement. A lot of friends were sure that I would be recommended because of the SRT that was asked and the time that was taken before calling me in the conference hall. I frankly believed none of those predictions because I wanted the results to show on their own. We waited for a declaration of the results and were finally filled in for the same. The officer told us that he would go in sequential order to announce the results and hopped from Chest number-3 directly to Chest number-10. I felt horrendous and shattered because I was optimistic about my performance. After he was done till the last number, he asked us,”Are there any more names to be called out?” and then said Chest number 07 come join and my happiness knew no bounds. I sprang up and said yes Sir and joined the other recommended candidates. A total of 10 ladies were recommended. My merit list is due for this August (I hope I make it) and I also cleared the CDS I 2017 who’s call letter I am expecting anytime soon. My happiness knew no boundaries because I was the youngest and the only fresher to be recommended. I was elated and the journey at Bhopal taught to believe more in myself. It was an amazing learning and experience. I also realized that people come with a lot of misnomers and misunderstandings at the SSB. All one should do is listen to none of such advice, focus on your performance, believe in yourself and just be yourself entirely because a lot of such misnomers and shackles are broken during the SSB. One must always seek guidance and advice from a trustworthy, experienced and authentic source to soar high instead of listening to any one randomly because it might lower the standard of your performance. Everybody is different and so not all can have the same way to do a thing. An SSB is the test of one’s personality and if you fake yourself, you are bound to be caught.
Hello aspirants! I’m Pranav Choudhary and I’ve got recommended for IMA-144th course from 17 SSB Bangalore in my 5th attempt.
I was keen on joining the armed forces since childhood as I was brought up in that environment and since a young age, I had decided that this is what I wanted to do in life. And so, as time came, I appeared for the NDA exam and cleared it all three times but got rejected all the three times. But these rejections did not stop me. After every rejection, my determination to join the armed forces kept increasing. I wrote down all the 3 experiences at the SSB and analyzed the places where I had to work hard like improving my writing speed and not being hesitant while answering the questions. In the 3 years at the Fergusson college, I kept working on the short comings. While in the final year, I cleared the CDSE 2 2016 but unfortunately, couldn’t attend the SSB interview as I had a backlog. I cleared the backlog and AFCAT 1 2017 and CDSE 1 2017.
I attended the AFCAT SSB at 2 AFSB Mysore on 3rd July 2017. This time I went with a fresh mind, but after the personal interview itself, I again realised that I had again not been myself while giving the answers and was very conscious about those and thus got rejected again.
After returning back from Mysore, I had 13 days remaining for the IMA SSB. In those 13 days, I completely relaxed my mind. I kept telling myself not to be hesitant and conscious about my answers.
On the next day after getting screened in at 17 SSB Bangalore, during the psyche tests for the first time I wrote whatever came to my mind without any hesitation and I enjoyed the tests. During the GTO 1, I didn’t speak much in the GD but whenever I spoke, I made sensible points. Same went with the GPE. Being a tall and well-built person, I was a good help to the group in the group obstacle race and we enjoyed during PGT and HGT as well. I spoke a good 3 minutes on pro Kabaddi league in the lecturette. I was asked to attend the interview in immediately after the GTO 1 so I attended it in the GTO dress itself. My interview went on for about 25 minutes in which I responded without hesitation. The interviewing officer asked me to tell him one mentally exhausting thing that I did in life to which I replied,” Sir, I have completed the bachelor’s in mathematics…that is the most mentally exhausting thing a person can ever imagine..” to which he had a good laugh.
Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)
On the next day during the command task, the GTO asked me what was the difference between the previous attempts and this attempt, to which I replied that in this attempt I was being completely myself. The GTO said,”This is the most common reason that I’ve ever heard, give me some good reason..” I smiled and replied, ” sir, this is my reason.”
The next day during the conference I was made to wait for 3-4 minutes before I was called in and was asked basic questions like how had I utilized my height in the SSB and how would I rate my performance. After about 2 minutes, I was out of the conference room. When the results were announced, as the officer announce chest number 11(my number), I went in a state of shock and tears rolled down from my eyes. The moment that I and my family and my friends were waiting for so long had finally come, I had got recommended.
Me after recommendation
Failures spare no one, then the one who keeps going even after those succeeds..!

I am Anurag Mishra and I got recommended for Indian Army through CDS Direct Entry from 17 SSB Bangalore. I always had a dream of writing my story as well on SSBCrack just like the other recommended candidates. Reading stories on the website always motivated me to perform best this time as this was my 4th attempt. All my previous attempts were before graduation and I was conference out all the 3 times but this time I wanted to make it count and do better than before.
My preparation started right from the analyzing myself and that’s all. I just analyzed myself and prepared in no other way. I thought that I’ll be natural and just give my natural reactions as opposed to a previous time when I used to manipulate.
I reported on July 21 to center and had PPDT the next day. I wrote a good positive story and a practical open and narrated it very confidently. I also participated in the discussion confidently and logically and I knew I would get screened in. Just be confident, positive and talk logically and getting screened in is never a big problem.
Next day in Psych test, I wrote positive, practical, cheerful stories and for the 12th slide, i wrote my own life story. In WAT and SRT, I wrote my natural responses. Number of SRT never make any difference but it’s your responses that do. In SD, I had asked my friends, family and teachers about my positive and negative points and wrote exactly what they had told me. Overall, I was natural, spontaneous and confident.
Then in the interview, I gave true answers and smiled throughout the interview. I did not try to fake and just gave natural responses to all the questions he asked. I was confident of my responses and did not stammer or stutter.
Then came the GTO and I followed the same strategy. I remained cooperative with the entire group and always gave positive suggestions. I took the initiative whenever I could and helped others. Basically, I was enjoying myself and not cared about the results.
Then came the D-Day and I was confident about myself this time and had thought that even if I don’t get recommended this time, I will remain positive and won’t give up. My conference lasted for 1 min. Then the results were announced and when my chest number was called, i couldn’t believe it. I got emotional and tears rolled down my eyes. My dream had come true and so of my parents. I told them and they were so happy. Got medically fit and hoping that will make it to merit list and join the prestigious IMA.
My only suggestions are, be yourself, be happy and cheerful, coaching is not a mandatory thing and just go out there and enjoy yourself. Also, introspect and find out about yourself more and more and never talk to any recommended candidate.
Situation Reaction Test (SRT) is largely a test of common sense. In day-to-day life, we come across certain unforeseen and unsought situations and we are called upon to resolve these and act in a suitable manner to meet the demand of the situation.
An Armed Forces officer comes across new, uncommon and inexperienced situations during his service career which can only be tackled if he has an alert mind, thinks logically and clearly, and gives quick decisions in those situations of stress and pressure without getting nervous.
SRT measures an individual in action and confronts him with situations related to own life, in response to which he expresses his feelings. This way, the individual reveals some of his personality traits through his performance and reflects his spontaneous techniques, reasoning ability and maturity of dealing with life situations preconceived by the psychologist.
Here we are providing few techniques to complete 60 SRTs in 30 minutes
Write minimum possible words in your response, using action words and punctuation marks (Like a comma, full stop), it shortens the answer. Use telegraphic language. This saves time. For example: While going to college, he saw fire in the building, people were panicking. He….. Action 1:He was pacifying the people to calm them and using fire extinguishers tried to stop the fire and called the fire brigade to come to extinguish fire then he rescued the people from fire and called an ambulance to admit them to the hospital.(IMPROPER) Action 2:pacified the people, switched off mains, used fire extinguishers, called up fire brigade, rescued people, admitted them to the nearest hospital.(PROPER)
Don’t write merely the reaction, write full action. For example: While playing football, he twisted his ankle very badly. He…. Reaction: took first aid. Complete action:took first aid, continued playing and won the match.
It is very important to note that there is no right or wrong answer to any situation. There is a course of action to be followed which can differ from person to person. So don’t waste your time finding the correct answer, just write whatever comes to your mind naturally but it should make sense.
If for any situation, you have a lot of options in your mind, write the best one. For example, the situation is: He is good in studies but can’t pay his college fee…. In this situation, you may want to write– somehow managed or managed from a friend, later returned him . With these answers, reflects your trait of dependency on others. Until it is very urgent or some other option is not available where you can’t manage by self, don’t write these. You may write, took a part time job or gave tuition classes.
Although the situations given are simple but if by any chance you can’t find a response to some uncommon situation, move on to the next one without wasting time. If you have time later, then think and write it down.
If you find that a situation is repeated in some other form, then give the action differently but see it is not contradictory to the previous action.
Always try and empathise yourself into the situation and then think for the solution. That way you think faster and respond.
Manage your writing speed. For this, you need to focus and practice. Initially, start practising without a clock and time. Try to improve your responses. As soon you see progress in your thinking process, try to be quicker in responding and put the time limit of 30 seconds to it. Remember to practice writing fast and legible too.Always remember that one learns to act appropriately to these situations by virtue of the experience one gains in life and not by the knowledge gained through classroom instruction. This is a natural and instinctive test of yours, don’t mug up answers.
