Will AFCAT 2 2017 Exam Be Postponed?

0

Many candidates have emailed us and also asked us on social media regarding the AFCAT 2 2017 exam scheduled on 27 Aug 2017 Sunday across the country. Especially for the candidates who have applied for the AFCAT centre near Delhi, Haryana and riot affected areas. Will there be any change that AFCAT 2 2017 will be rescheduled or postponed? Well, there is no official confirmation on the same from Indian air force, also the situation of riot affected areas are also not so clear. There could be following possibilities.

  1. AFCAT is conducted across the country and it takes too much time and money to conduct an exam like AFCAT which is conducted by Indian Air force.
  2. There is a high possibility that the exam will not be postponed completely but it may get postponed in the riot affected areas, but again that depends on the condition of these areas on exam day.
  3. There is no official confirmation that the exam will be postponed, so aspirants must prepare for the AFCAT 2 2017 accordingly and write the exam.

Candidates who have their exams in the riot affected areas must contact numbers given below to ask any questions they have:

RECOMMENDED FOR INDIAN ARMY TGC ENTRY

Hello friends! I am recommended from 24 SSB Bengaluru, TGC-126. If my experience helps you in any way, I’ll be very happy. My date of reporting was 24 July 2017. I reported there on time. As I was screened out twice, so this time I went with no expectations. On our reporting day, we had our documentation and we got our chest numbers. My chest number was 4. I had my dinner thereafter and slept in order to be effective for the next day.

Day-1 (OIR, PP&DT)

OIR test was very easy,  in ssb we are always under big pressure of lack of time. But somehow, I was able to control all my OIR. Now comes PPDT, this time I was totally unprepared and fully relaxed with no expectations, so I was prepared to write whatever comes to my mind. I tried to forget, what I was taught in the coaching. I just wrote a practical story with practical outcomes. I was good in my narration and GD. So, this time I was confident that I’ll clear the stage-1.

After lunch, results were announced. My chest number was the first one who got screen in. So, my new chest number was 1.

(I was talking to God that night, to please give me strength and will power to do well in remaining days as I was totally unprepared. I was even laughing at myself that what I am going to now :D, but I left everything on almighty)

Day-2 (psychological tests)

TAT- I tried to write practical stories, I just imagined myself as the main character in the picture and correlated that scene to my life and just wrote meaningful stories.

WAT- This test requires quick thinking and very fast handwriting. Just write what comes to your mind, but keep in mind that your sentences should show your qualities.

SRT- I like this test a lot. We just need to write our reactions to the situations, don’t think about write or wrong answer in it, just write what comes to your mind. Be true and natural while writing your reactions. Try to do as much as possible.

SD- Next test was self-description, I prepared a few value points in my mind the last night and I just wrote all those points in details.

As I came out of the testing hall, I was informed that my interview is scheduled today. So I rushed to candidates accommodation and gt dress up in my formals. My interview lasted for around 45-50 mins. I answered all the questions related to my life, family, friends, and teachers. But was not able to answer any of Gk ques, current affairs, and Indian geography. Interviewing officer tried to put me under as much possible stress he could. He asked me about trips with my friends, sports that I play, etc. So overall I was not satisfied with my interview.

Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)

Day-3 (GTO-1)

Day-3 started with GD in which according to me, I did well. I just spoke in the same way we give our point of view while having a normal discussion with our friends.

GPE- Group planning exercise was not up to mark, as I forgot the important locations and I wrote rubbish in that but did well in its GD.

PGT & HGT- I was not able to give many ideas, but was with the group all the time helping them, coordinating well with each others. Our group wasn’t able to complete PGT- in scheduled time.

It was an average day for me, from the performance point of view.

DAY-4 ( GTO-2)

I did well in FGT and individual obstacles. In command task, I asked for help from one of the subordinates, but timely completed my command task. Day-4 was overall, good for me.

DAY-5 (Conference)

An officer in the morning told us about all olqs that are required in a candidates for getting selected in ssb. Thereafter, we were told to be present in conference hall according to chest number on the sound of bell.

As I was chest number 1, it took around 25-30 mins discussion before calling my chest number. While waiting for the bell outside conference hall, I was just remembering god and thanked him for everything and asked for his grace in result as well.

I was then called in, I wished president of board. They just asked me 2 basic questions to which I answered smartly and confidently. And I was sent back.

After around half an hour, the same officer came with a folder in his hands. My heart was pumping very hard. I was doing the same thing i.e remembering the almighty. He was motivating us, but my all focus was on god.

Then he suddenly opened his folder to announce the result. His words were,” selected candidate ….. Chest number-1” that moment was difficult to digest, I was stunned, I shouted “yes sir with my name” .

He congratulated me, closed his folder and went away. I was still doing the same thing, “thanking god for his grace and love”.

So friends, just enjoy every test and task in order to give your best. Don’t take it as competition at all. Just be natural and truthful. Be like what you are, exactly same way how you are with your friends while on a trip. Just enjoy the stay there and enjoy each and every task.

 Gud luck to all!

10 PI Questions For AFCAT Aspirants

The selection procedure at every SSB is the same. But as the personal interview has a wide range of questions, some entry-related questions are sometimes asked from the aspirants. In AFCAT, some questions related to the AFCAT have been asked in the interview. So here are the questions with dummy responses.

10 Interview Questions Asked Only For AFCAT Aspirants

  1. How did you prepare for the AFCAT exam?
    • Ans – Sir, I went through the syllabus of the AFCAT and segregated the topics on the basis of my aptitude and prepared for them as per the priority. I kept on solving practice papers and maintained the pace of preparation as per my strategy.
  2. Why did you choose it instead of CDS exam?
    • Ans – Give your genuine response about it. Like – Sir I have applied for CDSE also and will appear for CDS SSB too.
  3. Why do you want to join IAF?
    • Ans – Here give out your genuine response in a comprehensive way.
  4. Do you think that AFCAT must be conducted by UPSC or another authority?
    • Ans – Sir AFCAT exam is conducted perfectly by the air force authorities and I respect the decision of the top air force brasses as till now no discrepancy has been reported in the exam.

  10. What are the differences between the SSB pattern of the AFCAT and other entries?
    • Ans – Sir, the selection criteria is same. But few entries like CDS and NDA provide one-day accommodation to the candidates. Whereas one extra free day after GTO is provided in the AFCAT SSB. apart from that, the GTO tasks of the AFCAT is different from the GTO tasks of other SSBs.

Conclusion – The above-mentioned questions are basic and very simple. But the thing that matters is the way you handle it. A well-handled response is like a victory in battle. All you need is to think about your response, practice for them and bring an average fluency in it. These questions have been asked from a few candidates in AFCAT SSB which makes them crucial for other aspirants also.

This SSB Experience Will Motivate All Defence Aspirants

0
INSPIRATIONAL STORY FOR DEFENCE ASPIRANTS

This is a long monologue of my story, but I believe many would be able to relate to it and enjoy the essence it carries. This is not just my story but of all those who have forever dreamt to be a part of one of the best and most ethical armed forces in the world. I had always wanted to join the forces since my childhood, inspired by my maternal uncle who is serving as an officer in the Border Security Force.

I gave NDA exam twice in my 10+2 but couldn’t clear it. Never minding the setback, I knew what I wanted to make of myself and never quit grooming on the mental level. Fast forwarding to 3rd year in the college, Indian Army visited the campus for UES entry. I applied and cleared the GD and Personal interview. That was the first time I experienced the persona of Indian Armed forces. I faced 3 Indian Army officers in the interview; one was a Colonel, and two were Majors. One of the Major was from AMC, probably a psychologist (my best guess) because he asked me some psych questions. Few questions that they asked were: 1) What is your favorite animal and why? 2) You see this pencil, what all can you do with it apart from writing? 3) Why your marks have consistently dropped from your tenth standard to you graduation? I laughed it off saying even I am trying to figure that out. After my PI, I cursed myself for this answer because I felt I behaved too cocky in front of the colonel.

Fast forwarding 3-4 months, 47 candidates were selected and gradually called up for SSB from our college. I was one of them. My Indian Army SSB was in Feb, 2015 at Allahabad. My Indian Navy UES SSB fell a month earlier, in January and I had to travel to Vizag. Before I move ahead, I must say that I had never had any SSB training or coaching. I had not even heard of SSBCrack at that time. I had bought two SSB books from a local store and used them for mock tests and PPDT.

At the Navy SSB, as luck would have it, I was screened out on the first day. I was not able to perform well in the discussion which followed the PPDT. I was disheartened but knew where I required improvement. I went to Allahabad the following month, accompanied by two other students from my college for Indian Army-UES SSB. Again, I was screened out. Following that, I would regularly have conversation with my uncle and take tips on how to perform at the SSB and what all qualities are gauged on the first day. The key here was to understand how an officer would think and spontaneously respond to situations (pleasant or unpleasant). All these days when I was preparing myself for the SSB, I noticed changes in how I had started to think differently and my attitude changed towards everything. Small things that make you realize that you are improving as a person, increase in positivity, I would never shy away from work even if I would be tired after the college, help mom in the kitchen, spend more time with family, talk to friends and motivate them, etc.ssb candidate

In the meanwhile, I was applying for technical entries in the Indian Navy and the Indian Army. I never applied for AFCAT though. I got an SSB call up for SSC Tech 45 entry and my reporting date was in the month of May. And the date clashed with one of my Semester practical exams. I knew I was screwed because I had heard that generally Boards did not entertain date change requests. However, I emailed the Allahabad Board on their id and also dropped a letter and a fax. I had lost all hope for getting a callup but I received my new dates over email somewhat around the first week of June which read, “YOUR NEW REPORTING DATE FOR THE ENTRY STL-45 IS ON 19TH JUNE, 2015. REPORTING TIME WILL BE SAME. YOU HAVE TO BRING THE HARD COPY OF THIS MAIL AT THE TIME OF REPORTING. YOU MUST HAVE TO BRING THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM HARD COPY PASTED THEREON PHOTO AND PHOTO GET ATTESTED BY GAZETTED OFFICER.” I was on cloud nine. I knew I had to hit it big this time.

I reached the Allahabad station on the designated date and the candidates were escorted to the SSB centre. I still remember entering the Cariappa Dwar that morning with a feeling that I had to achieve my target come what may. We were at the 34 SSB Board this time. Soon after finishing up with the document checking we were escorted to the hall for the tests. OIR were never a problem for me. My PPDT went good, of which I was a bit nervous. But I knew I had written a good story as it came spontaneously to my mind. I was confident in the narration but like we all have experienced, the discussion was a fish marked. The officer had to intervene twice or thrice as the group was shouting like anything. I gave just a few points at the start of the discussion and kept quiet for the most of it.

We came out and had pakodas and cold coffee as refreshments were served.

Then we assembled in the hall for the results. After waiting for about 1 and a half hours, the results were announced – Rishabh Srivastava chest number so and so! We were supposed to repeat our name, chest number and DOB for verification. I did and moved ahead and took the allotted chest number – 9. Everyone in my group was a fresher. We were divided into 4 groups. Mine was the first group. The remaining 4 days went smoothly. I was quite casual during the tests as I was enjoying the most of it. The evening strolls around the candidates’ lines, playing basketball and volleyball, getting involved in discussion with other candidates, about their SSB experiences and what to do and what not during the different battery of tests. I wasn’t able to provide much input as I was a fresher.

I clearly remember few incidences during the tests –

1) During the Individual Obstacle, I could attempt only 5 or 6 of them. I started in descending order of points, Confidence Walk, Tiger Leap, Double Jump, a couple of easy obstacles on my way when maneuvering from one high point obstacle to another. The last obstacle I attempted was Burma Bridge. I don’t know about other SSB centers but at Allahabad, there are two approaches to Burma Bridge, one is through a ladder and the other one is by climbing a rope. I chose the latter. I was already exhausted and panting heavily. It took me a while climbing the rope and as I was pulling myself to stand on the horizontal rope, my foot slipped and I fell on the ground. I tried breaking the fall by holding the rope but in turn was left with a bruised finger. I tried to climb the rope again but couldn’t as I was not left with any energy, so I used the ladder to climb up and while climbing down from the other side, my time was up.

Probably, the qualities which the GTO saw in me were the ability to not avoid a difficult approach and not giving up even after failing.

2) During the command task when the GTO takes you off for a nice stroll talking to you, discussing random things and then describing what you have to do in the task. My GTO talked about my stream of engineering, what city I belonged to, where my college was and what was my father’s profession. Then he says, “Okay. Chest #9, tell me why haven’t you shaved today. You have stubble. Are you so busy that you didn’t get time to shave?” I was taken aback with such a sudden question. I responded by saying that there was a problem with the water availability at candidate lines in the morning. Well, this actually was the case! But I knew I had seriously decimated my chances with the GTO. Well, I was shown my obstacle and I had planned everything in my head how I would guide my team across the three obstacles. The GTO asked me two chest numbers I wanted to have for the command task. The chest numbers were called. I stayed out and gave instructions one after the other. We finished the three obstacles much before time. The GTO then took away a plank and gave me another rope and asked me how the team should change the strategy to clear the obstacle. We were able to complete that one too. After completion, the GTO excused us and we came back jogging to the sitting area.

I believe that the GTO was able to observe clarity of thought and execution in my command task.

3) My Personal Interview was on the fourth day so I was lucky enough to mentally prepare myself and also to take tips from other candidates on the questions that were being asked. The board president took my PI. He had a subtle smile on his face when I greeted him and he asked me to sit. It was followed by questions on my family, education, why my grades have decremented over the years, friends and who is my best friend and why, etc. etc. Then the IO asked me in what tests have I performed best and the worst. I replied, my best performance was in command task and I could improve in the psychological tests and that WAT and SRT could have been better. He also asked me what were the aircraft carriers that India possessed. After I replied with the answer, he followed it with a question on and how do planes land on them, which again I was able to answer. I believe he asked me the questions about the aircraft carrier because I had appeared in the Navy SSB before.  Rest were questions about the different geographical commands of the army, the gallantry and service medals that are awarded and other GK questions. I kept my cool during the interview and gave clear and precise answers, which I believed would go in favor of me.cds exam book

4) The last day was the conference. I was called in. I believe I was a borderline case as my conference went for more than 10-12 minutes. The same question was asked by the board president, that what were my best performance and where was I unable to perform well. I gave the same answer as what I gave during the interview. Then the board president signaled towards a glass on the table and asked me 5 things I could do with it except for using it to drink water. I gave 5 uses for the glass. Then the president said, “Okay chest #9, tell me one more use for the glass.” This was when I went into thinking because even thinking up 5 uses was so difficult and he had asked me a 6th one! I took over a minute to think over it with the whole board gazing at me. Then I replied, “Sir, we can use broken pieces of glass to sharpen the manjha (string) of the kite. We apply wax on the string and run the manjha between two pieces of glass.” I knew it was correct as I had heard it somewhere before, but was not sure. But I saw an officer, who was sitting on the extreme left nodding with affirmation towards the president. Then there were the general questions about the stay and any suggestions that I would like to give. I gave a reply and was excused from the conference hall.

Then was the time for the results. The board president visited us and told us about Kalam sir and other personalities who had tried for the defense but couldn’t make it through but still made it big in other fields. But we were eagerly waiting for the results and I was getting anxious. Our technical officer was a lady Major, who was supposed to announce the conference results. Then they called up the first chest number, then the second chest number followed my chest number – number 9. I almost went numb and it took time for it to sink in that I was recommended to join the Indian Army, truly a dream coming true.

Total of 6 candidates were recommended from our batch – which was a record of sorts as Allahabad is believed to be one of the toughest of the SSB Centres. We were buried in documentations that we would continue to fill up during the time our medicals were in progress.ssb interview

On the day of the ortho and physical checkup, I was declared unfit due to Cubitus Valgus, which I didn’t even know what it was until that day. It meant I had a carrying angle in the arms, (19 degrees each side). I felt lost and beaten up. And, I didn’t know how to respond to such a situation.

I applied for AMB (Appeal Medical Board) at R&R, New Delhi. The window for appearing in AMB is 45 days.

After medical conference, I came back to Lucknow and started searching for cures for Cubitu Valgus. As it would turn out, the two options that were available to me were – 1) Get a surgery, which would in turn render me unfit to join the force; or 2) Physiotherapy. I started with physiotherapy the next day after reaching Lucknow. At that time I had less body mass so the condition looked more accentuated in me. I was getting anxious seeing no visible improvement. I moved to New Delhi to get a second opinion at SIC (Sports Injury Center), Safdarjung Hospital. I got a digital x-ray done. It was clearly visible that I had carrying angle of 20 degrees in my right arm and 19 degrees in the left one. However, the doctor told me that since it is not a result of any injury or trauma and does not hamper with functioning, it is not going to be an issue in aiming weapons and/or physical training. At SIC, I saw some ray of hope.

Just to get another opinion, I also visited the BSF hospital with my uncle. There too, I was told the same thing but was also informed that the medical standards are enforced strictly in the forces.

I appeared for the AMB at R&R and was given rejection again. I applied for Review Medical Board but my request was not accepted. It is usually not a norm to accept RMB requests, and I have never heard a medical case reaching the RMB.

I came back home with lost hope. I felt dejected and it affected my health to some extent. I would wake up in the night with cold sweats. So in a nutshell, I knew it was over and I would never be able to fulfill my childhood dream of joining the Indian Army.

But, chasing my dream gave me a lifelong experience. I have become a better person, I am mature, I am intuitive, I am alert, I have developed a never-say-no-more attitude, and, I have made lifelong friends from the SSB. One of the recommended guys I met at the SMB, Allahabad, was awarded by the then President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at last year’s OTA POP. Another mate who got recommended with me led the Bisons at the OTA POP, and there are numerous stories that I could tell about them. It fills me with a sense of pride for the ones who are ready to sacrifice their present for India’s future!!!

What I want to say in this very long post is that never get disheartened if you were like me and not able to achieve your dream of joining the forces. The enthusiasm that you put into preparing for SSBs and the OLQs that you have developed, use them to serve the country, because there is always a way. I now have moved to Mumbai working in an MNC. I am a frequent marathoner and actively participate in CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities.

Recommended For Indian Navy Through CDS Exam

Hello friends, I am Punit Pandey from Gujarat .I got recommended for Navy through CDSE (1) 2017  entry from 12 ssb Bangalore. I am sharing my story of recommendation as I have read many stories on SSBCrack and it helped a lot in preparation.

Joining Armed Forces was my dream but I was not aware of NDA exam and missed that opportunity. After that I took engineering and during this I regularly followed SSBCrack and came to know about other opportunities to join forces after graduation and procedure of ssb.

This was my 2nd ssb attempt, in 1st attempt I was conference out from 21 ssb Bhopal for TGC entry in February because I was not prepared and there was a lot of confusion and fear regarding selection process in my mind. I had given CDS exam in February and was confident of clearing the cut off. So I started working on the areas where I was lacking. This time I didn’t want to miss the chance and so for preparing systematically I had purchased Cdr. Natrajan sir video course for ssb. After watching videos most of my doubts were cleared and it guided me to prepare in right direction. The videos on GTO task are especially very good. Natrajan sir reviews and guidance helped me in improving my responses in Psychological test. Also I prepared for GK through different sources and worked on my communication skills.

On 12th July I reached Bangalore station in morning, there I meet with other candidates and soon we all were sharing our experience of past ssb. Then at 2:30, the bus from selection center came and we were taken to the centre. After documentation, we were allotted rooms and I took a good sleep.

Next day we had our screening test.
We reported at 6:30 am & test started nearly about 8:00 am. I wanted to give my best in the next 2 hours because if not performed it will cost me six months, more delay in joining academy again. Both verbal and nonverbal test consists of 50 questions each. I did the entire question with speed and also re-checked and corrected the answers which were wrong. Then, in PPDT the image was showing a car and crowd of people around it. I made a story of traffic officer who found that inside the car is a serious patient’s going to nearby hospital and so he quickly managed the crowd of business man who were protesting against GST and made way for car. Than we were divided in a group of 15 .I narrated my story confidently. I participated in discussion actively and most of the members of my group were good in communication and we almost agreed to the theme for story but GTO sir stopped and the test was over. I was happy with my performance in screening test and was confident of getting in for further testing. Soon result declared and 28 of us were screened in. Then we filled our PIQ form. Last time I did some blunder in filling the form but this time I filled it neatly.

Psychology Test

During Psychological test, I was very calm because time in all these tests is less. In TAT, I made simple stories that came to my mind but because of practice I was able to complete all stories before time. Also 3-4 pictures were same from my last ssb. So I thought my luck was good this time. In WAT, I completed all 60. In SRT, I was able to do only 37 because my handwriting became bad so decreased my writing speed to write the response which is readable. In Self-Description, I had prepared earlier by taking opinion of friends, family, and teacher’s. I was satisfied by my performance in psychology but I could have attempted more SRT.

GTO

In GTO, I was nervous regarding GD as my English communication skill is not very good. But I put my points with some statistics confidently and listened to others point’s .Our group was nice so GD & GPE was completed in decent way. In PGT, I gave ideas whenever we stuck, helped others in implementing these ideas and other time make sure that group members are following rules. Group members were good because of which we completed all 4 obstacles in very less time. Then in GOR, I helped group members in climbing walls and during all obstacles made sure that snake was carried by 3 people and followed all rules. Finally don’t know which team won the race but our GTO sir told us we won the race.

After that in HGT, we were 3 members.  The obstacle was simple. In individual obstacles I did 8 obstacles. During Lecturette, I spoke on “Role of Women’s in Modern India” with some facts. After this I had my interview.

Next day started with command task. GTO sir called me and after a 5 min talk regarding education, family, motivation to join Navy, he took me to various obstacles while talking and finally gave me a obstacle and was a bit difficult with a single structure in center. After looking at the structure carefully I got the idea and crossed it. Than FGT was simple and with this all testing was over.

Interview

My Interview was on 3rd day of ssb and I was the last candidates to be interviewed that day. I had my interview with deputy president of the board. I was nervous before Interview as in my last ssb my interviewing officer grilled me for 90 mins and he pressurized me a lot on every question. Finally my chest no. flashed in waiting room and I entered the room with a big smile. My interview lasted for 1 hour and there was only one rapid fire regarding academics. After this there was some questions regarding rifle shooting which I had played. Sir asked me My score in various matches which I have won , opponent score, which category I play, favorite player, recent national champion, how I get money as it’s a costly game. Then some questions on extracurricular activities.

After this sir asked me lot of GK questions for 20 min and I really enjoyed it as I was able to answer most of them. After 4-5 GK questions, I felt like playing KBC with Amitabh Bachan sir. There were questions related to Gujarat, History, Economic, National Issues , relation with Nepal and other neighbors, Doklam issue, China , string of pearls, CPEC, Afghanistan, Middle East countries and conflict with brief history, ports developed by China in other countries, etc. Sir tried to put pressure on me by counter questions by other ways but I kept clam and answered questions. After my interview, I was confident that this time I will make it.

Conference

The conference day started with a closing address by one of the testing officers. Thereafter, we were asked to wait for our chest number to flash on the screen and then go into the conference hall. As soon as my chest number flashed, I went in with a smile. I was asked to rate my performance and the qualities which I would like to improve after going through the 5 days ssb. After this conference result was announced and 5 of us got recommended. We were congratulated by the board president. Then we came back and our friends were waiting for us to hug and say good bye. We met with everyone and they all left. There were many other candidates who deserved the recommendation and I know they will make it in next attempt.

At last I would like to thank Natrajan sir without whom it would not be possible for me to clear ssb in such a short period.

Thank you very much.

 Jai Hind!

LT COL PUROHIT TO JOIN THE INDIAN ARMY AGAIN

After the Supreme Court granted bail to 2008 Malegaon blast accused Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit, his wife Aparna Purohit on Monday expressed happiness over the court’s decision. Speaking to ANI, Aparna said, “I am so thankful to the court. I am really happy that he (Lt Col Purohit) will be home.”

Meanwhile, senior lawyer, Harish Salve, appearing for Lieutenant Colonel Purohit told the media that they “relied on the new chargesheet by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and it contradicted what was said in their earlier chargesheets.” This comes after the Supreme Court earlier in the day set aside the Bombay High Court earlier order and granted bail to Prasad Purohit, who was accused in 2008 Malegaon blast.

A bench of Justices R.K. Agrawal and A.M. Sapre passed the order on the plea. Earlier on August 17, the apex court reserved its order on the bail plea of Lieutenant Colonel Purohit. Salve told the court that Purohit did not want to be discharged from the case at present, but for the interest of justice, wanted an interim bail. He added that Lieutenant Colonel Purohit was allegedly caught in the political crossfire and was falsely implicated in the case.Lt Col Purohit

Opposing Lieutenant Colonel Purohit’s bail plea, the National Investigative Agency (NIA) argued that the Bombay High court order should be upheld by the apex court. Lieutenant Colonel Purohit’s bail plea was earlier rejected by the Bombay High Court saying the charges against him were of a grave nature, after which he moved to the top court.

Lieutenant Colonel Purohit, a former military intelligence officer, is one of the accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts, along with Sadhvi Pragya and others. Sadhvi Pragya had been granted relief in the case by the Bombay High Court. The NIA had filed its reply in the case, saying that there was ample evidence against Purohit, but not against her.

The 2008 Malegaon serial blasts claimed four lives and left nearly 79 injured. (ANI)

IMA CADET FROM DARJEELING DIES

Another sad news for the nation, a gentleman cadet of Indian Military Academy dies today, this is second death since Friday. As we have reported earlier, cadet Deepak Sharma lost his life during training after a 10 KM long run which is a part of IMA training. Now as per the media reports cadet Navin Chhetri 23-year-old dies who was part of the same 10 KM run after which 6 more cadets fainted and one died.

Gentleman cadet of IMA Dehradun Mr. Navin Kumar Chhetri 23 yrs passed away during his training session at IMA Dehradun. He is from Sainikpuri, Khaprail. His body will land at Bagdogra Airport 3 PM today and will be escorted by the army to his native place. May his soul rest in peace !!

A cadet of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dehradun, police said on Sunday. This was the second death of a cadet undergoing training at the country’s premier academy in less than two days. Police said 23-year-old Navin Chhetri, a resident of Khaprel village in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, was admitted at the military hospital and was later referred on Saturday to Mahant Indresh Hospital, where he died on the same night.

A source said Chhetri fell ill after he participated in a cross country run on Friday. He fell unconscious and was rushed to the military hospital situated in the cantonment area. However, HT could not independently verify the source’s information and IMA officials remained incommunicable. Medical college spokesperson Bhupendra Raturi said the patient was brought to the hospital in a ventilator system.

“The patient was unconscious and was brought on a life support system. He was perhaps suffering from a kidney ailment. However, the post-mortem report could definitely reveal the reason behind his death,” he told HT.

A post-mortem examination was performed on cadet’s body by doctors on Sunday, and the body was later handed over to his family.

On Friday, Deepak Sharma, a 22-year-old cadet hailing from Bathinda in Punjab, died during routine training after falling unconscious on the 10-km cross country track.

Wreaths were laid for both the departed Gentlemen Cadets in separate ceremonies which were attended by all Officers, JCOs and Gentlemen Cadets of the IMA.

The remaining Gentleman Cadets have been treated at the Military Hospital and are stable.
