Written exam of CDS-2-2012 was held on 16th Sep 2012 for the course commencing in July in 2013 for admission to the Army, Air Force wings and  Navy of the IMA for the 135th Course & SSC 98th, 12th OTA,194th Flying Course and Naval Academy. Candidates waiting for CDS 2 2012 Key and cut off marks, Paper solution sheet, CDS key 2012,  CDS 2 2012 Cutoff Marks / answer sheet of CDS-2 2012 is/will be published in SSBCrack. Aspirants can look at the answer keys for their CDS written exam, here of paper-1st and paper-2nd with set-a, set-b, set-c, set-d. 
There are three different sections/papers in CDSE viz English, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics. CDSE is conducted by UPSC twice every year. When comparing CDS 2 2012 from last CDS 1 2012, it was easier than last time, specially in English and Maths. 
English: Paper was quite easier this time, specially the synonyms and antonyms, comprehension passages were quite easier like last time. Overall English was some thing to score high in overall CDSE.
GK: Like always GK remains the same but it was less difficult alike last time, more general questions based on current affairs and surprisingly from defence sectors. Not much of political questions neither more history which made the whole paper little easier this time. But overall it was difficult so nothing new in it. 
Maths: Easy like always, good chance to score more through Maths. This time more questions were from trigonometry and arithmetic. Overall Maths was easy and scoring.
Overall the paper was moderate and cut off may go up to 180   160Marks for AFA and 160-170 145 marks for IMA, OTA, NA. Lets wait for the CDS 2 2012 answers key to come up from The Cavalier Coaching Institute for  CDS-2 answer sheet 2012 and CDS 2 2012 cut off .

Can I attend SSB for CDS having a backlog in hand and my degree course will get completed in April i.e exams will get completed by April but then the provisional certificate will be available in the month of July but in the CDS notification it is given that candidates should submit their certificates by 13th May,..Can i attend the SSB?

  21. according to the key provided for cds(2) 2012 my performance is
    english: 65 right and 21 wrong
    gk: 42 right and 21 wrong
    maths: 36 right and 8 wrong
    is there any chance of getting ssb call letter?

  28. bt one of my fren who is undergoing course in ota nw told me that if u score 85+ in english and 40 to 45 in gk then ur in for ota sure. so guys calculate ur score me m already in that category.

    english- attended 112 correct 86, wrong 26
    gk attende 80 correct 45,wrong 35
    i have opted for OTA…is there any chance? what is my score can u tell me?

    • becuase upsc always declares the result in 120 dayz the result of cds 1 2012 was also announced on the 120th day of the exam thats why…:-)
      hey can u plz tell me that will i will get ssb call or not i am getting 105 marks in eng and gk both and i opted for ota only..

  88. m getting exactly 108.. my preferences are

    1. ima
    2. ota

    .. can i expect call for ima..
    someone have written dat if one is not qualified for ima then as per preference he ll get call for ota.. how is it possible..???
    how they ll consider maths marks for ota.. if someone is not qualified for ima including maths.. then how he ll qualify for ota just with english and gk..
    am getting 108 including eng,maths, gk..
    and 77 incl. gk and eng,,,,

    so according to suraj chand.. i can get call from ota..!!!

    • For OTA, you need to only qualify english and general awareness. . . whereas for IMA you also need to qualify maths. . . So most of the candidates who didn’t qualify maths get a call from OTA depending upon their performance. If you have performed well then you will get the call. Chillax and prepare for the SSB.

      could u plz tell me like if a peron hav opted for IMA & OTA…think he do not qualify IMA n get call for OTA n dat case the cut off marks for OTA will rise bcoz IMA students r getting call for OTA….majority of seats will be occupied by IMA student n person who opted only for OTA will b going home…

    • don’t worry dude, if a guy has cleared exam for both of the academy and gave first option IMA, then after clearing SSB and medicals, he will get call for IMA only and not OTA coz it was his first preference.

      And don’t worry about the vacancy, lot of vacancy are their but very few people are able to clear SSB, so vacancies goes vacant. For OTA, in 2011 april course, only 150 were recommended and vacancy was more than that and all of them got the call. . . And these days, army is publishing merit list in which they exclude marks of UPSC and they only include SSB marks. So prepare well for SSB, join some good coaching and you will find yourself living your dreams 🙂

    • I am not sure about that. . . Kindly refer the notification published by employment newspaper. . . As far as I know it is not possible but I am still not sure about this. . Sorry bro

    • you need to pass in all the sections first and cut off is overall. If you are scoring less than forty percent in any of the section then you won’t be clearing CDSE . . . I hope you got the answer.

    • @ROD when you don’t know any thing then why you are giving your useless views here… no need to pass any subject coz when there is no cutoff then how a person can pass… only the finall total combining all the three exams will be counted

    • dude, shut your mouth, You are trying to join defence, I did it in 2011. Now I am captain. I am trying to help fools like you . . . I don’t have free time. During my time, there were not many such portals who can provide guidance. So I spend few minutes of my time on this portal to guide young chaps like you.

      btw do you ever read the whole notification published my UPSC, i am sure you don’t coz it is six pages long in employment news paper, spend sometime to read that then you will get something. . . And btw did UPSC told you the qualifying marks??? According to your dumb calculation most of those who have appeared will get ssb call. Dude, only 10000 odd people every time clears CDSE. . . 😛 when you don’t know anything then keep your fingers in your pocket, no need to give false hope to others. Be little practical.

    • btw cut off and passing marks are completely two different things. . . 😛 and i am not going to waste my valuable time to teach you that difference 😛

  90. sir, can you please tell me that the cutoff is seen with overall scoring or one has pass different cut Offs in individual subjects? i’m getting 79 marks in english but just 21 in g.k. Do i have any chance for O.T.A ???

    • guys recuritment is high for naval academy so ppl who dnt qualify for ima will be getting Naval easily cut off seems 2 b low diz tyme n G>K paper was really hard……n confusing bcoz der is no clear answer for questions like constitution fulfill national assistance policy…?

      rakesh nain u find diz guy on top of the discussion pages check it out he got selected for ssb last tyme n hiz marks were 107 including 3 papers so can u tell me hw much he got in each paper….if a person is get atleast 40 marks in each paper hiz total marks will be 120 so according 2 u below dat marks will b not qualified den hw rakesh nain was called for ssb….?

    • qualifying marks is forty percent, not 40 marks 😛 and how does he know that he got that much marks, did UPSC revealed those marks to him????

      sometimes, UPSC reduces qualifying marks because of less number of people qualifying in the exam.

      Another thing, for IMA one need to clear in all of three sections. For OTA only english and general awareness is required. . . . For navy, qualifying marks is less because very few people fall into the qualifying age and qualification for navy. . . Now I hope you got the bigger picture of UPSC CDSE exam. . . another thing there is also reservation in clearing the exam. You can read whole notification, it is clearly mentioned. There are no reservation in SSB, it is only in clearing the entrance exam. . .

    • see, i can’t tell you that you will or you will not. but the best advise i can give you is that, start preparing for SSB, you are wasting time in finding out that you will or you will not. You will come to know in december, so start preparing for SSB.

    IMA 110+
    OTA 70-80+
    NA & IAF no idea..
    this is enough. don’t go through any bullshit of 140 or 170 for IMA..

    i want to know 1 thing if any one here knows please reply me
    suppose a person opted for IMA and OTA and by chance if he is not qulifying for IMA then he’ll be considered for OTA or not?? actly one of my friend in getting 98 marks so i am not having any idea about that

    I WANT TO ASK THAT WHETHER THE WEIGHTAGE OF WRITTEN AND SSB INTERVIW ARE SAME FOR THE FINAL SELECTION OR SSB INTERVIEW POSSESSES ANY KIND OF EDGE OVER WRITTEN MARKS.

    Question no. 64; the answer will be (c), not (b).
