Current Affairs Capsule December 2014 Part 1

Greetings to all the valorous visitors of ssbcrack. This time we are endeavoring to give all you astute aspirants a unique current affairs capsule. We know how difficult it is to read the newspaper thoroughly every day. Hence, we have tried to present the recent happenings in a succinct (concise) manner. The knowledge of current affairs is a key weapon in your arsenal for the personal interview. A person aware about his surroundings is always welcomed by the officers in the selection boards. So, here we go.

  1. Hand in hand, a 12 day joint military exercise of India and China concluded on 26th November in Pune. Both the countries showed their prowess in a coruscating manner.
  2. Manohar Lal Khattar led Haryana government lowered the retirement of the government employees to 58 from 60.
  3. World renowned Kathak dancer Sitara Devi passes away. She had proved her mettle in all corners of the world.
  4. Deepak Gupta becomes the new UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission) chairman. The UPSC conducts examinations like civil services, NDA and CDSE.
  5. Sania Mirza, the renowned tennis player has been appointed as the UN goodwill ambassador for the southeast Asian region.

  6. The central government launched the  Swach Bharat Kosh, a fund for building toilets and sanitation facilities in rural schools. The funds received will come under the ambit of CSR( corporate social responsibility) thereby encouraging the corporate giants to contribute towards the noble fund.
  7. Australian batsman Phil Hughes dies in fatal accident. He was hit on his head by a bouncer from a fast bowler during a domestic cricket match in Australia.
  8. Terry Walsh and Neil Hawgood resign as coaches of the Indian Hockey Men’s And Women’s  team respectively. There was a perpetual discord going on between sports and Hockey India officials.
  9. Pugilist Manoj Kumar finally wins the esteemed Arjuna Award after fighting an arduous battle with the sports ministry. Manoj is a Commonwealth games gold medalist (CWG 2010).
  10. India and Nepal sign 1 billion USD power deal. A hydropower plant will be set up at the Arun river for fulfilment of the deal.
  11. Ajit Doval, National security adviser has been appointed as the special representative for border negotiations with China.
