Speaking at New Delhi’s Manekshaw Centre, General Bipin Rawat addressed the Army and said that jawans can raise complaints internally and directly instead of resorting to social media.
“Whatever complaint they should have, they can address it through the excellent grievance redressal mechanism we have. Anyone irrespective of rank and service can reach out to me directly. We want them to come directly to us rather than through social media”, he said assuring that the identity of the soldier making the complaint would not be made public.
He said that the jawans should raise the matter internally as opposed to resorting to social media.
General Rawat’s remarks come after a BSF constable Tej Bahadur Yadav voiced his complaint on the poor quality of food being served to the troops through social media.
General Rawat also announced placing of Chief of Army Staff Suggestion cum Grievance Box to all the commands and subsequently, the lower formations.
Army headquarters and the other commands have suggestion and grievance boxes already in place. “Anybody having any complaint can use those boxes to voice their dissatisfaction. We will address it,” he said adding that “If a soldier writes to us regarding his grievances penning down his identity; will ensure that his identity is not made public.”
He also assured that if the complainant is unsatisfied with the action taken, then he can choose other ways of voicing his grievance.
The Chief of Army Staff ensured that the identity of the army men who present their grievances will remain anonymous.
