Nobody in the family of Pratap Singh Deshwal has been a part of the Army till now. The three daughters of the house, however, dreamt of becoming army officers and their family supported them wholeheartedly.
Preeti and Deepti completed their schooling from Jyoti Prakash School, while Mamta went to Himalayan School. In 2012, the trio was selected in the Armed Forces Medical College, but went to different campuses. Preeti was trained in Kolkata, Deepti in Mumbai, and Mamta went to Pune.
The three graduated this year and have been commissioned to different military hospitals across the country. Mamata will be stationed at Military hospital, Ranikhet, and Deepti will be stationed in Agra. Preeti will work for Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Ooty.
The achievements of the three young lieutenants prove that if girls are given the right opportunities and support, they are no less than boys. The credit goes to the girls’ determination and their family’s support.
